Don’t punish me for note ban, had no role : Punjab BJP minister to his voters

Amritsar, Jan 22 (India Express) : Worried about demonestisation hurting his prospects in Amritsar North Assembly constituency from where he is seeking re-election, Punjab’s minister for local bodies, Anil Joshi of BJP, has been pleading with voters that he should not be punished for something he is not responsible for.

Addressing a small gathering Friday evening in Medical Enclave here, where he lives, Joshi said, “My tenure is over. Now, one month is yours. Go out and convince people to vote for me. Some people would tell you they are angry because currency has been changed. Nothing can be done now on this. Anil Joshi has no role in it (demonetisation). Joshi has kept fighting governments and the system for your rights. It is not easy to make make bureaucracy work. So kindly keep that in mind.”

Asked later if he was worried about demonetisation impact, he said, “The impact is over. Almost 80 to 90% impact is over. Despite that, I mention it to clear doubts in the minds of people.”

Joshi, who has been projecting himself as Vikas Purash in his campaign posters, was accused by his own party leaders of spending more money from local bodies department in his own constituency than the rest of the state. Amritsar North constituency has visible transformation with new roads, renovated parks, footpaths, fountains, cycle tracks, sewerage system, theme street lighting, beautification of drains by laying underground pipes and constructing roads over it. Most of these works were completed only in the last one year.

Joshi, who had a running feud with BJP’s ally SAD, is not even mentioning Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while seeking votes for himself. “My fight was for merit, truth and justice and I fought for people. I cannot close my eyes. People understand it.” Asked if there is anger against SAD, he said, “No, I can’t say that. There is never anger against a whole community. The anger is always against individuals.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi choked with emotion during an impassioned speech in Goa appealed to people to give him 50 days to end their hardship after his government abolished high-value banknotes.

“I have asked the country for just 50 days. If after December 30, there are shortcomings in my work or there are mistakes or a bad intention found in my work, I will be prepared for the punishment that the country decides for me,” he said.

Citizens of India has patiently waited like soldiers patrolling the borders for their own savings days ever since November 8 demonetisation.
Like 'ache din' and '100 days for black money return from tax havens, even 50 days time frame is elapsed.Neither PMO nor RBI has any clue about what is the success of entire demonetisation process and normalcy.

It is for PM Modi to keep his word or live his chair to keep the word.

It is not demonitization, but exchange old notes with new ones. Black money is now stacked by BJP and its inudstrial partners in new notes. Common man does not have black money, it only politicians and businessmen. By the way can you tell what percentage of black money extracted by demonitizatin?

in punjab even jhootely says this election should not be considered as a referendum to demonetisation ..he knows it was a disaster and BJP will be kicked out of punjab ..only bhakts celebrated chandigarh municipal elections as referendum to Modi's demonetisation ..BJP which is against dynasty politics as it claims has no shame in backing badal who has 39 members of his family in Govt .

Do not simply blame demonitization and Mr. Modi. You should rather convince the public like Jaitly and the praty president do on the demonitization issue. Enlighten the voters on the benefits and the economic achievements (not to mention about public hardship of damage to economy) and you will gain peoples confidence. Even Mr. Modi can give another lecture. (public have lost confidence in BJP) I think people have awaken from deep sleep and ignorance and will act in a wisdom this time.

The hidden truth majority of the BJP MP and MLAs are against Modi and Shah. They cannot question the dictator Modi and Shah. But if BJP loses all 5 states, it is quite certain the banner of revolt will come out in open and Modi may have to resign and go back to his homeland Gujrath which in other words can be call Gharvapasi.

Sometimes, some Ministers act like stupids as they don't read peoples mind. Public will punish them for this behaviour of them and not for demonetization.

    "If not BJP who else?"

It seems some people have still not understood the monopoly. One last blind would have opened his deliberately shut organ and visualised how Modi donned Bapuji's place in Khadi Industry's calendars.

Hope for more people, if not demonetisation if not enough, dream about more.

Neither innocent poor people are responsible, in fact they have been the victims and it has not affected you the least. Can you fight for the people against this blunder?. Why should you, right, by saying 80-90% impact is over as it is nearing your voting time.
