New Delhi, Apr 12: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the RSS-BJP, alleging that their primary objective is to weaken the Constitution and deny equality to all citizens.
Gandhi made the remarks while flagging off the ‘Run for Ambedkar, Run for Constitution’ marathon at Mandi House ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.
“Without the Constitution, what we call India would not have existed. Today, those with the RSS-BJP mindset want to finish off the Constitution because they do not want equality for everyone,” he said.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha further alleged that despite paying symbolic respect to B R Ambedkar, their actions reflect an intent to undermine constitutional values.
“Our objective is to protect and strengthen the Constitution and ensure its ideals reach every corner of the country,” he said, adding that the marathon was organised to spread awareness about constitutional principles.
In a social media post later, Gandhi reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to Ambedkar’s ideals and called for unity against injustice and discrimination.
Former India cricket captain and Telangana minister Mohammad Azharuddin also participated in the event and praised the initiative, calling for similar campaigns to be held across the country to promote unity and constitutional values.
The event comes as part of nationwide activities marking the birth anniversary of Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice.
