Kuwait: Salmiya Church celebrates Monthi Fest

Kuwait, Sep 10: Konkani Community of St Theresa of Child Jesus Church Salmiya celebrated Nativity of our Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the ‘Monthi Fest’ on September 9. Fr Anthony Lopez, Fr Xavier D’Souza, Fr Noel D’Almeida, Fr.Fredrick Braggs along with parish priest Fr Blany Pinto blessed the novem and dates at 4 pm at the courtyard amidst a gathering of over thousand people and followed by the procession to the church. Children and elders offered flowers to Mother Mary.

In the festal homily, visiting priest Fr.Fredrick Braggs stressed upon the importance of respecting universal Mother Mary as our own mother. His homilies and preaching during the ‘Monthi Fest Tridum’ was appreciated by one and all present as the subjects of preaching were made interesting and interactive through stories and real life examples. He took the devotees on a spiritual journey during these three days with his powerful and touching reflections on the Word of God. Konkani Choir led by Kiran Gonsalves sang melodious hymns of mother Mary.

New Corns (Kanshi) brought from Mangaluru, dates, kobu and vorn was distributed to the gathering after the mass. Kobu was donated by an Egyptian family. Parish priest Fr.Blany Pinto and community representative Anil Fernandes thanked all those who helped and supported in celebrating the feast with devotion and grandeur.
