Puttur: CBI searches ashram looking for former Kashi Math Swami

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Feb 15: Police personnel belonging to Tirupathi in Andhra Pradesh (AP) as well as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the town and conducted searches in an Ashram in the outskirts of the town on Sunday February 14. It is gathered that they were looking for the former junior Swamijii of Kashi Math, Raghavendrateertha alias Shivananda Pai alias Chotu, who had relinquished his position. It is said that Pai is absconding with invaluable items belonging to Kashi Math Samsthan, several of which are over 500 years old.

Raghavendrateertha had not returned a number of items belonging to Kashi Math that were in his possession at the time after being divested of his position at his own request. The court at Tirupathi had ordered him to return all the belongings of the Math intact unconditionally. He had absconded from Tirupathi after this order was passed. Andhra police had got information sometime later that he had gone into hiding in some places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

After the AP and CBI police came to know that the Swami in question was hiding in an Ashram in Wayanad in Kerala. Although Tirupathi police headed by deputy superintendent of police, Ram Mohan, raided the spot, they drew a blank. Thereafter, CBI had issued red corner notice, announcing a prize of Rs 1 lac to anyone giving information about the fugitive.

During the raid at Wayanad, the police got information that Raghavendrateertha was hiding in an Ashram near Puttur. On the basis of this information, the joint team of AP and CBI police arrived here on Saturday night, stayed in a lodge and sought help from police and some prominent leaders from Gowd Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community to complete their task. With the support of GSB leaders and disciples of Kashi Math a raid was conducted at the Ashram but the team did not succeed in its aim as they could not find the person they were looking for.

It was Hon Supreme Court order that Estranged Swami Raghavendra should hand over everything to Kashi Math But still he has not followed .Even in the presence of Now Kaivalya achieved Shrimat Sudheendra teertha Swamiji this Swami Raghavendra didnt give back those items and absconding all the time .
In My Opinion We should leave it to God and I am sure he will give back those items back in due course .Not to bother about those items we should concentrate on Continuing the Samaj Activities under he new Swamiji Shrimad Samyamendra Theertha .Let those items be with him but Lord Vyasa Raghupathi resides in the heart of his devotees not necessarily in idol alone .

why did Shrimat Sudheendra teertha Swamiji pick Raghavendra Tirtha, gave sanyasa deeksha and appointed as the future Swamy of Kashi mutt? Later he was removed just citing some caste reasons??
What about the humiliation faced by Raghavendra Tirtha swamy?

Shankar - First know that Swamiji's are not born but initiated into sanyastava by the senior swamiji after going through his horoscope and determining that he is able to lead the community on righteous way. As thsi Shivanad Pai has lost the confidence of the senior Swamiji due to his wayward living style he was disowned by HH senior Swamiji. so his tenure ends there itself. He is no more a religious leader. so calling him swamiji is not right unless you have some sinister design in it.

Dear Shankar, do not put any allegation or doubts on ever revered Shrimad Sudeendra Thirtha Swamiji, who held mantle of GSB community for more than 70 years without a black spot. When disowned by senior swamiji, it duty of Shivanand Pai to surrender idols and go in dignified way. Why he is absconding and playing foul play. Shivananda Pai has humiliated senior Swamiji and GSB community for long time and his sin is now multiplying.

Agree with you! And we hear that during their last days, HH Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swaimiji wanted to meet their Sishya HH Raghavendra Thirtha Swamiji. But some people in the community didn't want this to happen... Truth will come out some days... Don't try to fool everyone with the help of the media.

CBI looking for ex-swami ? Now its not Congress Bureau of of Investigation - is it ? Well, thats what the institution was branded whenever raids were made during earlier government's ruling) or investigations carried out on unwelcome cases.

I hope it is Central Bureau of Investigation this time !
