Fujairah: Canara Catholics celebrate 8th anniversary

Fujairah, Jun 3: Canara Catholics Fujairah celebrated their 8th anniversary on Friday, May 31 at City Tower Hotel, Fujairah. The programme commenced with a prayer by Anson Britto. President of CCF Lancy Dantis welcomed the gathering.

Fr Arul, vice-principal of St Mary’s Catholic High School Fujairah graced the event as the chief guest. Alfred D’Souza, a community leader of Fujairah in the yester years was the guest of honour. D’Souza was the founder member of CCF. He was actively involved in all the activities of Fujairah parish for more than 20 years.

Alfred D’Souza was honoured in a traditional manner with a shawl and Mysore Peta by Simon Noronha of Pearl Printing Press, Dubai. President Lancy Dantis presented a memento while Roy Veighas read out the Letter of Honor. Alfred’s wife Lydia and daughter Areetha were also present.
 
Alfred thanked the community and recalled his social involvement till last year before settling down in Mangalore.

Sharon Vas and Jenisa Fernandes were felicitated on the occasion for their remarkable achievement in the grade 10 CBSE examination. Cadly Almeida was felicitated for his achievement in grade 12 exams.

The later part of the celebration was filled with dances, music, games and fun.

Young children entertained the crowd with their dances while the super moms danced with their spouses mesmerizing the crowd with popular number ‘Radhaa’

The programme ended with novelty dance, raffle draw and baila dance.

Asumpta Britto proposed the vote of thanks. The whole programme was ably conducted by Melvin Vas, well-known compere of the region.

    Thank you CCF, for finally recognizing the yeomen service and sacrifices of Alfred D'Souza who without seeking any returns, had struggled for the progress and upliftment of our community, not just in Fujairah but wherever he went in his career. He is a role model for all of us. Continue highlighting the good works of champions, role models so that others get inspired.
    Alfred on his part, has continued his mission here in Mangalore, more aggressively than before, in that sense, Fujairah's loss is Mangalore's gain.
