Mumbai: Abhijith Prakashana releases two Kannada books

Mumbai, Mar 29: “There is need to give importance to the works of the Renaissance period; ironically, present stories are filled with concept modernization. Excellent work can be written with mastery of good language. The people of Mumbai are enthusiastic and in their own way they contribute to culture and literature. Let thousands of works come forth and reach the hands of Kannadigas,” said Dr K Sanjeeva Shetty.

He was giving the presidential address at the book release programme of ‘Asare’, story anthology by Mary B Pinto, and ‘Sahitya Sanskrithi Chintan’ by Jyothi Sathish, organized by Abhijith Prakashana, Mumbai, and Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, at Smarasa Convention Hall of Karnataka Mumbai Sangha, Matunga West.

On this occasion, postural (Mudra) science expert Suman Chiploonkar, Sathish Ermal, Manju Devadiga, and Clarence B Pinto were present on the stage. Abhijith Prakashana Mumbai’s 56th book ‘Asare’ was released by B S Kurkal and 57th book ‘Sahitya Sanskrithi Chintan’ was released by poet and thinker N R Rao. Writer Mariappa Natekar and Poornima Sudhakar Shetty introduced the book.

On this occasion Kurkal said that in the past three months, 25 books were released from Mumbai, which shows the existence of Kannada language in the city. “This shows that Kannada language is developing and will be never extinct. Retired teacher Pinto is a great achiever and her service to literature is a model to everyone. Writers like this will be a motivation to the society,” he added.

Susheel Devadiga prayed while Dr J D Joshi, and Dr G N Upadhyaya, convener of Abhijith Prakashana, Mumbai, presented the keynote address. Honorary secretary Dr Bharath Kumar Pollipu honored the book authors.

Omdas Kanngar thanked, Chandra Joshi introduced the guests. Shimunje Parari John D’ Souza Karkala, Dr S K Bhavani, Gladys J D’ Souza, Dr Vyasaraya Ninjoor, Kalyaru Raju Shetty, Sa Daya, Nithyananda D Kotiyan, Chandrahas Suvarna Shimanthoor, and Chitrapoora M K Kotiyan were among those present on this occasion.
