Ajman: GMU hosts biggest inter-collegiate ever in UAE

Ajman, Mar 25: Twenty leading colleges and universities in UAE participated in the weeklong 12th Annual Sports Festival, 2013, the biggest inter-collegiate ever hosted by Gulf Medical University, Ajman recently. All the participants vying for the coveted trophies exhibited high standards of spirited sportsmanship while participating in the various tournaments.

The participating colleges and universities in the Annual Sports Festival 2013 were:

The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Amphitheatre, Body & Souls Health Club & Spa, Ajman. A total of sixty trophies, certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up on the concluding day of the sports competition. Chief guest Prof Gita Ashok Raj – Provost, GMU alongwith Dr P K Menon,

Director-Administration and Institutional Research & Planning, GMU, Prof Mohd Arifulla, Dean-Office of Admissions & Registers, GMU, Prof Manda Venkatramana, Dean-College of Medicine, GMU, Prof R. Chandramouli, GMU and Prof Ishtiyaq Shaafie, GMU awarded trophies to the winners and runners-up of various Inter-Universities and Intra-University Sports events.

“Gulf Medical University has been the unique trendsetter of regularly hosting the biggest Inter-Collegiate ever in UAE since the year 2000. Keeping in view of the enthusiasm and the true sportsman spirit generated amongst the students and the organizers during the GMU Annual Sports Festival 2013, Gulf Medical University plans to organize the sports event in a even bigger scale by inviting more colleges and universities in the UAE in the future”, commented Prof Ishtiyaq Shafie, chief organizer of GMU Annual Sports Festival.
