Kundapur: Myriad colours decorate Kodi sky during kite flying contest

Kundapur, Feb 18: Myriad of colours adorned the sky at Kodi beach here on Sunday February 17. The occasion was a kite competition for school children organized by Bandya Educational Trust in Vakvady in collaboration with Gurukula Public School.

The kites by ‘Team Mangalore’ kite flyers added special attraction to the event.

Team Mangalore mesmerized the crowd with its unique kites which included Ganapathi, Kathakali, Bharathanatyam, Pushpakavimana, Yakshagana, Gauruda and several others types.

B Annappa Heggde inaugurated the programme. He said that in the present modern world, the talent of preparing kites is becoming extinct. Though there are opportunities to utilize this talent in coastal area we have failed. Such programmes are helpful in personality development.

ZP education and health standing committee chairman Ganapathi T Shreyan, taluk panchyat member Manju Billava, gram panchayat member Janaki Billava, Bandya Education Trust joint director Aupama S Shetty and Subashchandra Shetty, administrative trustee Prabhakar Shetty, competition convener Harish Saga were present on the occasion.

On this occasion, sand sculpture competition was also organized. Prizes were distributed for the winners of sand sculpture and kite competition.

School principal Roopa Shenoy welcomed, Shashikanth compered and Shiva Prasad proposed the vote of thanks.


Results:

First division: Shushrith bagged first place, Mahima second, Dethin third.
High school and college level: Sathar of Ramana Shetty College Mulky bagged first place, Megana of Ramana Shetty College Mulky won second place, and Navya third.

Sand art competition: Sunil and team of Vanthibettu bagged first place, Satish and team of Herooru bagged second place, and Shivaraj bagged third place.
