Kundapur: One killed in car-tempo collision at Nagoor

Kundapur, Feb 17: An accident between an Omni and goods tempo at Nagoor on NH 66 here on Sunday February 17 resulted in the death of the car driver.

The deceased has been identified as Sandesh Kharvi, a resident of Kharvi Keri here and a fisherman by profession. He died on the spot.

The Maruti Omni car was moving towards Kundapur while the tempo was plying towards Byndoor.

Sandesh along with his friends Prashant Kharvi, Prasad Kharvi, Akash Kharvi, Sunil Kharvi, Sanath Kharvi and RItesh Mesta had been to Honnavar to watch a kabaddi tournament. However, due to rains, the tournament was cancelled and the friends started on their way back at around 3 am on Sunday.

It is said that their car was moving at a high speed and rammed into the goods tempo at Nagoor.

Prasad and Prashant who were injured were admitted to Manipal hospital while the others were taken to Kundapur hospital.

Sandesh was the brother of social worker Nagaraj Kharvi.

The last rites were held at Babbu Kudru.
