Bangalore : Engineering Student Arrested for Roopali (24) Murder

Bangalore, Feb 12 (DHNS) : The City police on Monday claimed to have cracked the murder of a 24-year-old woman at a lodge in Cottonpet on February 6, by arresting an engineering student in Tamil Nadu.

Satyaprakash, 22, a native of Bihar, was arrested at Chidambaram in the neighbouring state by the Cottonpet police, based on CCTV footage recorded at the UG Regal Lodge he had checked into on February 3.

The victim Roopali Mishra’s parents, who had come down from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to collect her body, also gave vital clues about a man who had borrowed money from their daughter.

Based on the mobile phone records, the police traced Satyaprakash to Chidambaram and a special team rushed there and arrested him Sunday evening.
Police said Satyaprakash was a third year engineering student at the Annamalai College of Engineering in Chidambaram.

Police said Roopali, who had completed her MBA, was introduced to Satyaprakash by a common friend.

Satyaprakash had promised to get Roopali, who was working in a high-end beauty parlour after she lost her job in Axis Bank, a good job at an MNC and had taken Rs two lakh from her a few months ago. However, he did not get her any job and also did not return the money.

Roopali allegedly had a tiff with Satyaprakash over the issue and the latter had visited Bangalore on earlier occasions to pacify her. However, a miffed Roopali had allegedly threatened to file a police complaint against Satyaprakash.

Sources said Satyaprakash then hatched a plot to get rid of her and came to the City on February 3. He checked into UG Regal Lodge under the pseudo name Santosh Kumar Yadav and asked Roopali to come to the lodge and collect her money. But he murdered her and locked up the room before fleeing.

Police said he later checked into Durgamba Lodge on Y Ramachandra Road the same day, abandoned the murder weapons there and fled the City. Satyaprakash returned to Chidambaram the same night and even attended classes the next day.

A senior police officer handling the case told Deccan Herald that the investigation was still in the initial stages and many issues were yet to be ascertained.

He said the two did not have an affair as suspected.

Whatever your observation, one thing for sure that gulf labourers are better than Indian engineers! ???

I take it as joke go and see some labour accomodaitons they are living so inhuman way. Not everyone gets a lavish living like you.

Go to labour camps and see dubai is not just about burj kalifa and good looking footpaths.

and dont compare india with gulf.

Entier gulf would be equalent to some state of india. Doing a devlopement work in such a huge country is tough task..

And sitting in gulf commenting wont work go to india and do some devlopement

    Vit, Mangalore,

    True,
Even let our Engineers see Gulf bus-Stop shelter standing on 2 poles better than Indian bus-stopes calaiming that 25 lacs spent, foot-bridge 75 lacs spent! in gulf you can see AC foot-bridge with lift attached spent less than (equally) 10 lacs Rs.

    Vit, Mangalore,

I fully agree with Aadil, Kasaragod 100%.

Whatever your observation, one thing for sure that gulf labourers are better than Indian engineers! Look at the footpath built in the gulf by these unskilled labourers & see the highways/roads built by our gold medalist engineers in India. Moreover, although they work as drivers, I'm sure they drive with traffic sense than the un-ruly/mad/crazy driving sense we have.

This is the GROUND REALITY, my friend!

    I fully agree

We are not interested in whats his story he has done a cold blooded murder and nothing can be justified there.. murder is a offence thats all..

There are thousands of mba graduates roaming around in india without jobs. This is the reality my friends i have seen guys with mba selling soaps..

Easy to comment sitting in saudi.. Ground reality is different..

You may not be surprised people with higher education doing a driver job in gulf countries ..

If you go to Gujarat and let's say you need a room in a hotel/lodge, not only do they make sure they follow the standard procedure of verifying the id but it is also compulsory to take an impression of your thumb. It about time Karnataka administration starts implementing laws which equate safety of it's citizens.

Well, this is one sided story. We need to hear what Satyaprakash has to say.

MBA degree holder, working in the beauty parlour! Looking for a job paying 2 lakh. All sounds much fishy.

Hope police could unearth more evidences and take the case to a conclusive logistic.
