Muscat : MCCP’s Mangalorean Day on Feb 8

Muscat, Feb 7 : The Executive Committee of Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts. Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) is all set to present one of the most exciting events of this year for its members and their families.  The event is rightly named as Mangalorean Day - 2013.  As per the official release of MCCP, this annual event of fun and games will be held on Friday, 8th February 2013 at the Muscat Sports Club Grounds at Al Wadi Al Kabir.  The registration for the event will commence at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance of the Muscat Sports Club Grounds and the program will begin immediately after the registration. 

“ As we, the Konkani speaking Mangaloreans in and arround Muscat, know that ‘Mangalorean Day’ is one of the most exciting event of MCCP’s calendar,” says Lawrence Alva, vibrant leader and charismatic president of MCCP, “ and we, the members of the organizing committee with the help of many sponsors and supporters, have formulated an exciting event for our members and their children with loads of fun and many prizes. The huge green ground of Muscat Sports Club – Al Wadi Al Kabir is an ideal place for this kind of event and it will be traditionally decorated. This event will be an opportunity to bond with our Mangalorean roots in Oman.  Right now, we are enjoying fantastic weather in Oman, which will certainly bring a great exciting mood among the crowd. We are fully confident that our members will greatly enjoy each and every item of the day and every moment of the program. We request all the members to be present right on time and thoroughly participate in the fun filled entertaining event”

The event will have some of the traditional games of Mangalore, like breaking coconuts, Mosaru Kudike (Breaking the hanging pot by forming human pyramid). The man behind the whole show is vibrant and inspiring leader of the Mangalorean Community, Suraj Rebello and he will thrill the participants with his unique and exclusive set of events.

During the event there will be a prize distribution for the winners of Crib Competition 2012 and Dance Competition. Also, a certificate of appreciation will be give to all the participants of Dance Competition.
