He was a good English teacher. He used to make it very interesting with small anecdotes and stories. He used to kneel down for the prayers (Angelus) in the afernoon in the class when it was recited just before lunch. He had good rapport with all the doctors in Shirva and had arranged for annual medical check up for every student in the High school. Once while teaching maths, he could not get the proper solution. He called another teacher P. G. Prabhu who was an expert in Maths and Physics. He solved the problem on the board. This shows that he had no ego problem even though he was the Head master and P.G. Prabhu only a teacher under him. During the lunch break, he used to go to every class to ensure that every student had gone for lunch, before he cycled his way home for lunch. When he realised that the students, especially the girl students were drawing water from the well to drink and wash their hands, he got a sponsor and arranged for the tap water. During those days, no student dared to speak against anyone on religious basis. During our batch, we had for the first time, the only Muslim girl in the entire high school. Though the uniform was compulsory for every student, he accomodated this Muslim girl and allowed her to wear churidaar with a dhupatta covering her head. This was only because he wanted to ensure that this girl got good education. He had his weak moments but over all a towering personality who changed the lives of thousands of students.
