Dubai: Emirates Pangalites Host Domestic Workers Day-out

Dubai, Nov 25: Emirates Pangalites, UAE hosted a domestic workers day-out on Friday November 23 at Zabeel Park, Gate No 1. This day was specially planned for Mangalorean and Goan domestic workers who are working and residing in UAE.

The full day’s program was started with a welcome note by President Clevin D’souza and a key note address by founder president Michael Castelino at 11 am.

President Clevin D’souza stated that the picnic is a simple pleasure excursion where the people meet, greet, eat with lots of fun, giving a total relaxation from the daily burden of house-hold chores. 

Soon after the opening session, Joel Quadras took over the entire day’s event with the introduction of each participant and then split the crowd into four groups with colored wrist bands. Then the groups are renamed as Sunshine Stars, Green Land group, Rainbow and Navjyothi as per the groups choice.

A warm up game of dodge ball was followed by group games like identifying the kitchen items used in olden days, memorizing and writing the given recipe, identifying the groceries blindfolded, sack race and dumbcharades.

After the lunch break, the session started with Anthakshari after which a game of Pehchan Kaun (Identifying TV soaps, actors and actresses), building a tower with balloons, best newspaper makeover, was followed by, water melon eating contest, theme game enacting, tug of war and finally concluded by a game of housie-housie.

Prizes were distributed to all the groups based on their group points and all participants were given gift hampers, courtesy of Chilly Willy Trading and Britannia Biscuits.

The event was graced by Joseph Mathias, MD of Merit Freight Systems, Walter Nandalike of Daiji World.com, Dayan D’souza of Daiji Dubai writers Forum, Pastor Sunil D’souza of Vishwasadha Mane Shankerpura, Rajesh Sequeira, Coordinator Karnataka NRI Forum and Ms. Aboline D’Cunha, Vice President Parish Council, St Mary’s Church, Dubai.

The fun filled day came to an end with vote of thanks by secretary Veena Alva.

A sumptuous breakfast, lunch and evening tea were catered by Najmat Bangalore Restaurant, Sharjah.
