Bahrain, Oct 29: Children’s day as we all know is a day dedicated to children, which is 14 November and is celebrated in recognition to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s lifelong passion and work for the welfare, education and development of children and young people. Children remember him as Chacha Nehru. Bellevision Bahrain celebrated children’s day on 26th October 2012 at South Park, Gudabiya. The Eid holidays gave us the best opportunity to celebrate this day.

MC Ivan Sequeira welcomed the gathering, which was followed by prayer dance from Hazel and Reeshal. President Kishore Dsouza in his Presidential address gave a brief introduction to the event and said a few encouraging words to boost up the Bellevision Children and thanked the parents for preparing them for this event. He thanked the BV committee, event organizers and all the sponsors.

The main event coordinator, our dear Veera Teacher briefed the competitions, categories and explained the rules and regulations. She introduced and welcomed the judges, Mrs. Hansul Gani, Mrs. Anitha Shajan and Mrs. Priya Mascarenhas, who are well known in the field of dance and music. Being an event for children, the charge of conducting the competitions was handed over to Jason D’sa and Jolveen Mendonca our budding masters of ceremony.

The competitions for the day were:

1. Dance
2. Singing
3. Fancy Dress
4. Elocution

The executive committee had decided to give away a special trophy for the child who would participate in maximum competitions and based on the marks obtained would be declared as “Young Champion” and the winner of this trophy emerged out to be none other than Ms. Jovita D’sa, daughter of Mr. Edward & Mrs. Benedicta D’sa.

The hall was packed with a crowd of nearly 125 who was thoroughly entertained for about 4 hours with the competitions. Ivan D’souza and Pramila Martis performed a small skit, which gave a laughter break to the audience. It was also a special moment as our sponsors Mr. Simon and Pressy Machado celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on this day. Bellevision Bahrain congratulated them and wished them a very happy wedding anniversary.

In advance preparation to the Children’s Day Celebration, Bellevision Bahrain had arranged for art and drawing competitions on Friday, October 12th at the Konkan Singers Club in the evening at 4pm. The judges for this event were Mrs. Asha Sreenivasan and Mrs. Lalitha Jagadeesan, both teachers are well known in the field of Art and Drawing. The drawings of all participants were displayed in the hall for viewing.

All participants were awarded with Participation Certificate and the winners were awarded with Trophy and Certificate. The tiny toddlers were the attraction of the event. All toddlers were given gift hampers by Bellevision Bahrain. All the judges were given gift hampers sponsored by Edward D’sa. At the end of the event children and executive committee all gathered on the stage to cut the celebration cake.
Snacks, cake and juice were served during regular intervals, sponsored by Naveen Mendonca. Yummy food was served by South Park.

The teams that worked for the events success were Organizing committee Mrs. Veera Fernandes, Baptist Sequeira & team, John D’souza & team, Joel D’sa, Arun Castelino & team, Steevan Lobo & team, Naveen Mendonca & team, Vincent Martis, Preetham  Aranha, Rony Fernandes and Rony Alva, MC Ivan Sequeira  and DJ Shaun and the Volunteers.

“Let's capture some magical moments, let's create happy memories and let's surround ourselves with love and laughter as we celebrate this special occasion” – these wishes expressed by Kishore in his Presidential address turned out to be 100% true by the end of the event. Bellevision Bahrain’s every effort and emphasis to give equal opportunity and nurture the talents of the BV children proved significant and worthy yet another time.
