Bantwal, May 1: Despite the monsoon rains not arriving in the taluk, 28 cases of malaria have been detected already. This was revealed during the taluk quarterly KDP meeting held at SGSY auditorium, B C Road, on Monday April 30.
Taluk health officer Dr Deepa Prabhu revealed this at the KDP meeting chaired by MLA Ramanath Rai here on Monday April 30.
“Out of the 28 cases of malaria detected in the taluk, 7 were reported from Kurnad primary health centre, and 21 from different primary health centers across the taluk,” added Dr Prabhu.
“The migrant labourers from Bagalkot, Bijapur, and other districts engaged in building construction in the taluk are spreading malaria. Two cases of leprosy have been reported in the limits of Vamadapadav primary health center. Both malaria and leprosy cases are undergoing treatment by the department,” she added.
BEO Sudhakar expressed concern over the delay in getting a consignment of school uniforms from the state authorities, despite the school re-opening date approaching fast.
The issue of old-age pensions that are being withheld due to revised survey came up for serious discussion. Rai instructed Tahsildar Anand Naik to distribute the pensions that are pending since one year inclusive of the current year. Tahsildar Naik said that the survey will be over by May and steps will be taken to distribute the pension at the earliest.
ZP engineer informed that the survey is under way for the ambitious ‘Bahugram Yojana’ and the survey has already been completed in five villages except Sangabettu. He added that the report will be submitted to the concerned authorities after the completion of the survey.
Rai advised Naik to resolve the hurdles on a priority basis related to developing the proposed stadium at Benjanapadav, near here.
He also instructed Naik to find out whether AMR Power has paid the compensation to the families of the three students who drowned in Nandavar on Netravati River six months ago, as the state authorities had presented a cheque in this regard.
The ZP engineer informed that electricity connections are still pending for 19 drinking water projects in the taluk and the Mescom officer said that the monies have not been received for 10 projects.
TP president Shailaja P Shetty, vice-president Dinesh Amtoor, and steering committee president Madhav Mave were present on the dais.
ZP members M S Mohammed and Chandraprakash Shetty participated in the discussion. TP chief executive officer Vishwanath Poojary compered the programme.
