Mangalore: Mulky Town Panchayat Outgoing President B M Asif Felicitated

Mangalore, Aug 2: B M Asif, outgoing president of Mulky town panchayat, was felicitated during a function held here on Sunday July 31.

Mulky–Moodbidri MLA Abayachandra Jain, in his presidential address, said that Asif has embodied the virtue of selfless service since his youth by striving to implement many development programmes in Mulky. Jain termed him an inspiration for youth leaders.

“State approval has been granted for laying the pipeline again at a cost of Rs 4.7 crore, as the existing pipeline supply drinking water from Thumbe to Mulky was damaged during the four-lane conversion work. A proposal has been sent to the state administration to lay an underground drainage in Mulky at a cost of Rs 27 crore and the tender process will begin shortly. These are the achievements of Asif who pursued the issue rigorously,” added Jain.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat former state president Harikrishna Punaroor, after felicitating Asif, said that Asif deserves the public honour since he had worked regardless of caste, creed, and religion for the welfare of people.

Asif, acknowledging the felicitations, said that it is due to general support that he strived to reach the state benefits to the poor and needy. B M Iddinabba delivered the felicitation address.

Mulky town panchayat president Sasikant Shetty, vice-president Yogish Kotian, chief officer Harischandra P Salian, religious scholar Kolakady P Vadiraj Upadhyaya, Francis Fernandes of Divine Call Centre Mulky, K S Rao Nagar Jumma Masjid Khatib Isaac Faizi, town panchayat members Gollalappa, Harini Sundar, Laxman Poojary, Shanta Kirodiyan, Nagarika Samiti members Janardhan Bangera, Mustafa, Arjun Hiremat, Abdul Jabbar, Lokesh Kotian, and Jeevan Poojary Bheema Shankar R were present on the occasion.

Dr Hariprasad Shetty of Nagarika Samiti welcomed the gathering. Navin Putran compered the programme.

A colourful procession was held from Yuva Souda to the venue. A musical concert was also staged as part of the entertainment programme.
