Another Ship Stuck at Mumbai's Juhu Beach

Mumbai, Jul 31 (IANS): In the second such incident in six weeks, a huge ship Sunday drifted to and ran aground at Juhu beach here, officials said.

The ship, named MV Pavit, is said to be a cargo carrier which had reportedly developed an engine snag.

It drifted here following stormy weather in the Arabian Sea over the past few days.

Details of the ship's tonnage, the crew on board, fuel and other issues are still being ascertained, an official of Indian Coast Guard told IANS.

He added that with collaboration from the Directorate General of Shipping and other maritime agencies, plans are being chalked to launch a towing operation.

Earlier June 17, cargo ship MV Wisdom was similarly stuck at Juhu beach. It was finally towed away July 2.
