Ashwini Poojary: Thank You Readers, for Saving Another Life

Udupi, Jul 17: 18-year-old Ashwini Poojary, brilliant in studies, and living in an extremely poor condition had to forego her education after SSLC and face some of the toughest days of her life, not just because of poverty, but more so because of a heart ailment.

When Stephen, a good samaritan, contacted Daijiworld and provided details of Ashwini's health and family, Daijiworld at once put forward the appeal to its readers, who have time and again in the last ten years rescued and helped needy people with contributions to the tune of crores of rupees.

Daughter of Ramanand and Varija Poojary, Ashwini was suffering from a congenital cardiac disorder.

Surgeons at Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore, had advised her to undergo surgery as her condition had been worsening day by day. The amount required for her surgery was around Rs one lac.

The appeal that appeared on Daijiworld for about seven days, generated over Rs 3 lac, and the family lost no time in admitting her to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore.

It was the support and prayers of hundreds of people around the world that worked miracles again. She underwent a successful surgery and on July 12 was back home in Palimar, with a broad smile on her face and also on her parents and her only brother.

Her father Ramanand was a daily wager in Palimar who used to earn a livelihood by plucking coconuts in his neighbourhood, but he too had to give up work due to illness. Varija, her mother, rolls bidis, while their only son had to abandon his education in order to support the family by working as a daily wager.

They live in a rickety house that is far from being safe, specially during the monsoon season. Now, as the family has received surplus money for the treatment of their daughter, they are planning to repair their house and make it fit for living.

"Ours was a small world, we never thought there was a world with so many beautiful people around. We could not believe it when we started getting money in our account, and we did not waste a single moment to get Ashwini operated. I tell you, it was timely help indeed. The people who supported us not only brought back the smile on Ashwini's face, they have shown us what true happiness is. We have never known such joy in our lives. We are grateful to everyone who supported and prayed for us. I can never forget them," an emotional Ramanand Poojary told Daijiworld. He rushed to Daijiworld office as soon as his daughter was back home.

"I have seen true God in the form of people who helped our daughter. They don't know us, yet they helped. We never thought such good people exist in this world..." said Ashwini's mother who could not hold back her tears of joy and relief.

With folded hands and bowed heads, all they could say was "God bless you all."

All their blessings and gratitudes go to Daijiworld readers, who anonymously supported a life and rescued a young 'heart'.

Looking at the donors' details from the bank account, one point was very clear - there were no religion, no language, and no regional bars. Indeed, it was humanity at its best.

Kudos to you readers. Let us build a beautiful society, and let us continue our mission.

May God bless us all.

Great work, Daijiworld. This is an eye opener for those who are bent on creating communal disharmony. We belong to one single human family. Beware of politicians as religion can be easily misused to create religious sentimentalism. Politicians gain and poor people suffer. THIS NOBLE CAUSE INSTEAD IS AN EYE OPENER. Thanks Daijiworld!
