Between Life and Death

Between Life and Death

Between life and death
There is a minuscule gap
A gap of a moment
The previous moment you are there
And the next you are gone

It is a matter of breath-
If you are breathing, they call you alive
The second the respiration stops -
You are a thing of the past
Mourners take charge
Until memory fades away

What about the -
Wealth you have amassed
Your struggles to fame
Your sleepless nights
Grievous pain
All gone in vain, within a spur of a moment

Or is it some kind of an achievement?
A completion of a mission
Is there a bigger living to come - that is unknown?
Is there a hidden agenda, beneath the act of life?
Who is the puppeteer behind life’s show?

Each day is a rebirth
There is no guarantee that you will wake up to a new day
Nor there is guarantee that you will survive the day
Hope is the only solace
You have to go on like the tick-tock of a clock
Until your final stop arrives

Thereafter the praises don’t affect
Blames don’t harm
An ignored, could suddenly become a hero
Celebrated all through the life
Now forgotten like a beast
Finally! As you travel to the obscure.

Latest: Even my wife has mellowed down on reading this...
She knew it inside, it seems..but was not able to able to analyse and put it in words ..it seems.
    This is the ultimate!
Hope she and all like minded dear hearts have this awareness through out.

“Why do we always begin to think about people when they die? I think we should think about people while they're still alive!

Yet another thoughtful masterpiece, Annie, a refreshing whiff of spring air.

Someone said 'You live only once, but if you do it right, once is enough'and travel to the obsucre will be sans regrets. As for the question marks in the fourth stanza, well, various faiths/belief systems have attempted to provide philosophical answers to them down the ages.

    What a marvel!
Yes indeed..Just a matter of breath
to suggest that you are alive.
    There one moment..Gone the next!
WE read the poem Madam, in all possibilities thinking that it does not apply to us! In fact it's true of every living being.
It's only if we have this awareness throughout, will our feet be planted firmly to the ground.
    So beautifully depicted!
    Kudos and keep writing.
