Kuwait, Sep 13: The Konkani Community of Ahmadi parish celebrated the feast of Nativity with piety and devotion on September 9. The church of our Lady of Arabia, Ahmadi was beautifully decorated with flowers and little children were filled with excitement to offer flowers to Infant Mary. Due to Covid restrictions the feast was celebrated on a low-key level for the past 2 years.

This feast marks the birthday of Mother Mary and along with that the Christians give thanks for the bountiful agricultural yield and celebrate the harvest.

The excited children offered flowers to Mary, when the choir sang the hymn “Moreak Hogolsiyan” melodiously. Thousands of colourful flowers and petals floating in the air brought back nostalgic memories of childhood to all the devotees gathered. The choir sang delightful hymns captivating all gathered and praising and honouring Mother Mary for her pious and dutiful life.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr Antony Lopes (Ecclesiastical Judge and Chancellor of the Northern Vicariate) assisted by Fr Roswin Pires assistant parish priest and spiritual director of Konkani Community Ahmadi Parish. Father Mariano Maritnho Lourenco visiting priest from Goa, offered a beautiful homily enlightening the gathered about the challenges faced by mother Mary and the virtues she was blessed with. He also encouraged everyone to follow in the footsteps of Mother Mary accepting the will of God and renewing their devotion to Mary.

Finally snacks and blessed grains were distributed to the devotees. In preparation of the feast 9 days novenas were organized from August 31 along with rosary and Holy Mass. Many children and adults attended these novenas with flowers on the 9 days.
