Strauss, Hussey Wickets My Favourites in World Cup: Zaheer

Dubai, April 15 (IANS) India's pace spearhead Zaheer Khan rates the wickets of England captain Andrew Strauss and Australia's Michael Hussey as his favourites during the team's victorious World Cup campaign.

Zaheer, with 21 wickets, finished as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament alongside Pakistan's Shahid Afridi.

"Taking Andrew Strauss' wicket was a game-changing moment for us in Bangalore. It was a perfect yorker and something I'll always remember," said Zaheer during the ICC Cricket World Radio Show.

"Also in the quarterfinal, taking Mike Hussey's wicket was really important - Ricky Ponting was playing well and it was important to break that partnership," he recalled.

Zaheer said with the 2011 World Cup, he got the opportunity to change things from the past, especially his performance in India's loss to Australia in the 2003 World Cup final.

"I'm glad that by playing in this World Cup I had the opportunity to change things from the past, but I do not regret 2003, it was a great learning experience, it meant I was more prepared for 2011 and ready to help India win this World Cup."

The seamer also praised India's former coach Gary Kirsten understanding him as a bowler.

"Gary is the only coach who has understood me well, given me the freedom to express myself, allowed me to get into my own space and given me the freedom to achieve," he added.
