Ajman: UAE Minister of Health Visits Gulf Medical University

Ajman, Apr 12: Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim, UAE minister of health, along with Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, CEO for medical practice and licence, ministry of health, UAE visited Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman-UAE recently.

They were accorded a warm welcome by the founder president of Gulf Medical University, Thumbay Moideen, provost Prof Gita Ashok Raj and the academic team.

After a brief meeting with Thumbay Moideen, Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim and Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri were briefed to an audio-visual presentation followed by a visit to various medical faculties and departments. They were briefed about the educational pattern and the most modern and advanced laboratories the University uses to impart quality medical education to the students. The visiting team was highly impressed that the university had an international faculty and a student cohort from around 54 countries.

Thumbay Moideen in his welcome speech said, "I am honoured by the visit of Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim along with Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri and their team members. By the grace of almighty God Gulf Medical University is in the 13th year of providing quality medical education and healthcare and we are always thankful to Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim and Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri and all concerned at the ministry of health for their unconditional support extended to us in our journey to serve the nation with quality medical education and healthcare."

While addressing the students and the academic team of GMU, Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim said, "I’m glad to visit Gulf Medical University and learn about the thorough, advanced systems and educational patterns followed by the university."

He was impressed by the rapid growth of the university in the last decade and was in praise of Gulf Medical University for not only imparting medical education to local students but also to students from 54 nationalities of the world with diverse environment, background and culture. He added, "I’ve always favoured private institutions as they are quick in productivity in their field and have to face less restrictions. Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospitals over the last decade have come a long way to stamp themselves as one of the major provider of quality education and healthcare in the region."

He also assured that the ministry of health, UAE will do their utmost best to always protect and support private institutions like Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospitals as and when required.

The proceedings of the seventh GMU annual scientific meeting was released by Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim.

Later, Dr Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim was presented with a special memento by Thumbay Moideen as a token of gratitude for visiting Gulf Medical University.
