Moodbidri: One arrested over illegal transportation of acacia wood worth Rs 18 lac

Moodbidri, Aug 15: Mobile squad of forest department arrested a man and confiscated vehicle that was illegally transporting logs of acacia wood near Vishalanagara of Moodbidri.

The total value of vehicle and the wooden logs confiscated is estimated to be Rs 18 lac. One person is taken into custody and interrogation is on.

The operation was held under the direction of deputy conservator of forests P Sridhar. Zonal forest officer Sampath Patel, deputy zonal forest officers Kantaraj, Prakash Shetty, Santhosh, Vikas and vehicle driver Jayaprakash were also involved.
