Riyadh: UTT Bags ‘JF-Suhana Travels Super Cup Cricket-2011’ Trophy

Riyadh, Apr 8: ‘JF-Suhana Travels Super Cup-2011’, a 6-overs knock-out cricket tournament, was organized by the Jam'iyyatul Falah (JF), Riyadh Unit, and sponsored by Suhana Travels.

The tournament was held at Yarmuk Area, near MVPI, Riyadh, recently. In all, 24 teams from India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka took part in this prestigious tournament, with the matches being held every Friday morning. Teams were divided into two groups. 

The teams that qualified for the semi finals were ‘Mangalore Kings’, ‘Pak Fighters’, ‘UTT’, and ‘SCFC’. The first semi final was played between Mangalore Kings and Pak Fighters with the former winning.  The second semi final was played between UTT and SCFC which the former won. 

In the final, Mangalore Kings won the toss and elected to bat first.  They scored 74 runs in the allotted 6 overs. UTT clinched the JF-Suhana Travels Super Cup beating Mangalore Kings by 5 wickets in a nail baiting finish on the final day of the tournament.



The prize distribution ceremony was hosted by Parvez Ali, former president, JF Riyadh. In addition to the JF Committee Members, other eminent personalities who were guests at the final match included  Ramesh Shetty, marketing manager, OTE, Riyadh, Abdul Gafoor, Stop Coffee Shop, Mohammed Ilyas Hussain, manager, Basem International, and Abu Mohammed, manager, MFC.

The following players and teams received glittering trophies from JF for their outstanding performances:

‘Man of the Match’ trophies were awarded to all the players who performed well throughout the tournament. Shakir Khan of UTT (Best Batsman and Player of the Tournament), Imran of Mangalore Kings (Best Performance of the Tournament), Suhana (Best Disciplined Team), and PCC (Best Uniformed Team). The runners-up trophy was awarded to Yunus of Mangalore Kings and winner of the tournament trophy was awarded to Shahid of UTT.

The umpires who officiated at the tourney were Rafiq, Ayaz, Akhtar Shaikh, Bhaskar Nawaz, Sherief, and Fayaz. The whole tournament was managed by Ayaz and his enthusiastic team.
 
Stop Coffee Shop served breakfast and tea on the final day for all the teams and spectators on the ground. Several other individual sponsors also contributed in making the event a grand success.

The main sponsors for this tournament were Suhana Travels, Eastern Arabia, and some philanthropic individuals.

Jam’iyyatul Falah, Riyadh, has been actively organizing various activities through which they are trying to educate and entertain the audience while bringing the people of Mangalore and other regions together.
