Enhance Wins Oman Air Corporate Cricket Cup 2011 for Third Time

Muscat, Apr 8: Since last month the corporate cricket cup lovers were waiting for the third edition of Oman Air Corporate Cricket Cup to begin and on Friday morning the corporate cricket cup 2011 began with the first match of Bank Sohar and Oman Air Head Quarters.

This cricket tournament was planned  just before the Cricket World Cup 2011  in order to entertain the local Corporate Cricket Lovers  .This cricket tournament was organized by Gulf Sports Club (Muscatcricket.blogspot.com) and a  huge corporate cricket community from sultanate was present to witness the live cricket matches at Oman Club , Football stadium. Ground was full at its capacity and the cricket fans Enjoyed all the  live cricket matches. Excellent arrangements were made at the stadium and a refreshment center also served the refreshments , drinks to all of the players as well as spectators .  Top corporate cricket team from Sultanate of Oman participated in this cricket tournament and since it was a single day cricket tournament following eight teams were allowed to play in.

Oman Air Head Quarters (Anand Parekh), Larsen & Toubro (captain S. Ram Kumar), Oman Air Catering Division (captain Vivek Nambiar),  Times of Oman (captain Shahzad Raza), Enhance Oman (captain Guru Prasanna), Bank Sohar (captain Suranga Parera ), ORIX Oman ( Godwin Prashant) , Al Rehwan Contracting Company (Shiraj Abdullah)

The Cricket atmosphere was electrifying throughout the day and players spectators thoroughly enjoyed the each and every moment of the Game. The DJ entertain the crowd and corporate players as well spectators  enjoyed the tourney by dancing.

George Ranjit Alexender , General Manager , OMASCO accompanied by  Navin Batta , Diviosnal Manager , Watches and Allied Services Division and Sanjay Rao , Brand Manager, OMASCO was present as the chief Guests of the day.

All of chief guest watched the Grand Finale match and encouraged the Corporate Cricket Players. George said “We at Panasonic, Alba and Westar proud to be associated with this corporate cricket tournament every year and wish to congratulate the winning Enhance Corporate Cricket Team as well as Al Rehwan Group Corporate Cricket Team for their success as a runners up .”

Matches Details:-

Oman Air Catering Division , Enhance Corporate Team, Al Rehwan Contracting Company and Oman Air Head Quarters reached to the semifinal match after winning their matches from ORIX Oman , Larsen and Toubro, Times of Oman and Bank Sohar Head Quarters. All the matches were very close, full of excitement and thrilling

First Semifinal match was played between Al Rehwan Group vs Oman Air Head Quarters Corporate Cricket Team .Al Rehwan won the toss and elected to field first. Oman Air HQ team scored  42 runs for 7 wickets  from their 8 overs . In reply Al Rehwan Team easily managed to score 43 runs in 6.4 overs. Major contributor to the score was Saju , who scored 26 runs (not out)

Man of the Semifinal Match:- Saju, Al Rehwan Group

Second semifinal match was played between Oman Air Catering Division Team vs Enhance Corporate Cricket team. Enhance won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 71 Runs from their eight Overs by losing 7 wickets. IN reply Oman Air CD could score only 26 Runs and lost 9 wickets .

Man of the Match :- Afzal , Enhance (4 wickets– 20 runs)

In the Grand finale match, Al Rehwan Corporate Cricket Team won the toss and elected to field . Batting first Enhance scored 82 Runs for 8 wickets . Deepak- 18 , Naved-16 .

In reply  Al rehwan Team cound score only 40 Runs for 5 wickets and lost the Grand Finale match one sided.

Having attracted an overwhelming response, the organizers declared the event to have been a huge success, providing entertainment and enjoyment not only for the eight teams participating but also for the large crowd of keen supporters who watched the day's proceedings with great pleasure .

Individuals playing  in the Final match and top performers of the tournament  received Executive Class Alba and Westar Watches.
