Mangaluru: Committee urges closure of Surathkal toll gate before Aug 15

Mangaluru, Aug 6: One month is over since the deadline of June 22 was given for the closure of Surathkal toll gate by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and union minister Nitin Gadkari. However, the toll gate still collects the toll from vehicles.

The Surathkal toll gate protest committee urged to close the toll gate before August 15.

Muneer Katipalla, convener of the committee said, “It is not possible for us to hold any protest in this regard as there are restrictions in the district following the recent incidents. If the Surathkal toll gate is not closed before August 15, we will resort to gherao, stoppage of toll collection and sit in protest by thousands of people in front of the toll gate after August 15.

“The ruling government and people representatives are using the present situation in the district to cover up their failures in administration and issues that bother commoners,” accused Muneer.

No doubt- “The ruling government and people representatives are using the present situation in the district to cover up their failures in administration and issues that bother commoners,” Toll may be major source of income for politicians and they are silent on poor quality of NH, potholes and street light! Wish their cars get damaged in these cheap and poorly built quality of roads!

When our central Government minister Gadkari fooled everyone when he visited Mangalore that within few days those tolls which are within 60 KM will be closed. So I think no solution for this. All are same.

Listen up Mangaloreans...You don't protest today...tomorrow you won't be able to make them vacate because they are aware nobody is resisting them. Then they will call it their right to collect money. Today it may be in hundreds. Tomorrow our kids will pay in thousands. Today there is one toll, tomorrow someone else will set up a toll similarly. Wake up!

Blood suckers are having taste of blood... They will never stop sucking... This toll business fills a lot of pockets... Committees will try hard but not much can be done... People must close the highway on both approaches to the toll gates except for ambulances... Just like farmers' stir and Anna Hazare fast.... Nothing less will work.... Voices of people must resonate in the corridors of power in New Delhi....
