Kadaba, Aug 1: Two children of Kukke Subramanya are reportedly trapped in the mud debris following the wall collapse of a house due to heavy rainfall in Parvathamukhi of the taluk.

The children live near the Kukke Subramanya temple. The Kumardhara river is brimming with water due to heavy rains and it is said that the wall of the house belonging to a shop keeper Kusumadhara collapsed after a nearby hill came crashing on it taking the children underneath.

Efforts are on to rescue the children caught in the debris of the mud by the locals.

Subramanya police have rushed to the spot and a JCB has been pressed into service. But, due to heavy rainfall rescue operations have been hit as the road leading from Kumaradhare to Panje has been flooded with rainwater. Trees have been uprooted following the heavy downpour thus hampering the operations.

It is feared that the children may not have survived. Also there are unconfirmed reports about a third person also being trapped in the debris. Further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, the DC has requested the devotees not to visit the Kukke Subramanya temple for anotrher two days atleast since the Darpana Theertha river is overflowing and has flooded the surroundings including houses and bridges. Tuesday being Nagara Panchami the temple gets a massive footfall every year. the devotees already here are stranded in the rain.
