Mangaluru, Jul 28: Former MLAs J R Lobo and Ramanath Rai said that the ruling government has been ineffective in maintaining law and order in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.
Lobo said, “The topic of discussion was regarding the incapacity of the Karnataka state government and incapable outcomes of the ruling of law and order, thus contributing to an unsuccessful ruling in Dakshina Kannada. The recent events such as murder of Masood in Sullia, Praveen murder, the infamous pub intruding, which was in limelight and many other events have turned the scenario even grimmer.
“A human must possess the quality of humanity. Murder is an undoubtedly a heinous crime. And it is ironic to witness the murderers getting away with their shameful acts and this is unacceptable.
“What has been garnered form this is that the people do not fear the government; hence they believe to have the lease to do as they wish. They have deceived the country and they are evidently perpetrators. People are carefree about these crimes and it is disappointing to witness the authorities turning a blind eye towards all these. The recent pub attack has tarnished the students’ image,” he said.
Further, he also added that the police have failed and so has the government. He claimed that they were defending those accused in it. “We must understand that our city is cautiously skipping into the verge of a catastrophe. We need to turn our attention towards the plight of parents, who have sent their wards to our city, with the main purpose of studying and this incident has only reckoned the matter. How would they place trust in our city’s institutions yet again? Such incidents have only defamed our city and would hinder the developments coming ahead,” he said.
“Why are they rest assured that development is far from being achievable? What has triggered all of this chaos and unlawful activities in our city? All of this must be brought to the forefront of the public,” he said.
He emphasized that this must be addressed at the earliest, no matter who that was and that he must be punished and the family should get what they longed for, the justice, he remarked.
Rai said, ‘The government has completely failed in maintaining the law and order in the district.
“Dakshina Kannada has witnessed two murders in Bellare recently. No innocent should lose their life irrespective of any religion or party. The government’s negligence is clearly visible. The police department should nab the culprit at the earliest. Anti-social elements are involved in such incidents and mileage is gained by someone else who goes to power. Provocative speeches has led to these murders.
“Without any bias, the government should give compensation to Masood and Praveen’s family,” he said.
