Teenager Sasikumar in Quarters of All India Tennis


Chennai, March 30 (IANS) Local challenger, 14-year old Mukund Sasikumar, continued his dream run in the MCC SR Subramaniam Trophy All-India tennis tournament as he reached the quarter-finals of the men's singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over P Manikandan, also from Tamil Nadu, here Tuesday.

Sasikumar had ousted eighth seeded Vignesh Veerabhadran (AP) 6-3, 6-3, Monday, joined the top seven seeds in the round of eight.

Men's singles (pre-quarter-finals): (1)Vishnu Vardhan (AP) bt Veera Vasanth (KAR) 6-3, 6-2; (2) Vijay Sundar Prashanth (TN) bt Rishabdev Raman (TN) 6-0, 6-3; (3) PC Vignesh (AP) bt Elwin Antony (TN) 6-3, 6-1; (4) Ajai Selvaraj (TN) bt Amit Chawla (TN) 6-1, 6-2; (5) Vinod Sridhar (TN) bt Arpit Sharma (RAJ) 6-1, 6-0; (6) Vijay Kannan (TN) bt Irfan Hussain (TN) 6-2, 6-3; (7) Reynold Timothy (KER) bt Bharat Bharadwaj (HAR) 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; Mukund Sasikumar (TN) bt P Manikandan (TN) 6-3,6-4.
