'Praise the Lord' : Mangalorean Fraudster Flees with Crores of Rupees

News & Pics: Rons Bantwal
Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SB/VA)

Mumbai, Mar 26: In this fast-paced world as much as people are turning materialistic, the need for peace through spiritual bliss and blind beliefs too has seen an increase. The trend and this naievity of people has provided the right fodder for opportunists to pose as Godmen or mediator to God in order to make some easy big money.

An incident of duping people of their money in the name of religion has been reported from here. The fraudulent duo who have fled with crores of rupees have been identified as Saldanha couple, basically from Ammembal, Sajipa, Bantwal of Dakshina Kannada district. They preached the devotional phrase, Praise the Lord and in turn also sowed the seeds of greed for money amongst thousands of gullible devotees under the company name, V-care Group of Companies. It can be recollected that Saldanha through his company had also announced first-ever Pan India Transgender taleny Contest named V-Care Indian SuperQueen at Taj President Hotel in Mumbaio Jan 11, 2010 in the presence of actress Celina jaitely, transgender Lakshminarayan Tripathi and actress of Bandit Queen fame Seema Biswas.

Saldanha with celebrities

The case of coning came to light though a bit late when Lancy D'Souza Jerimeri of Andheri East lodged a complaint at Naupada police station, Thane of being cheated by V-care Group of Companies managing director Sunil Saldanha and his wife. After registration the case through FIR, the police raided the company office and took into custody, directors Balraj Mallik (32), Anju Pandey (25) and Deepali Patil (26). Further, Lancy D'Souza has alleged in the complaint that the Saldanha couple are absconding.

It is said that Saldanha has cheated as many as 45,000 devotees stating that he is a devout as well as an entrepreneur, emotionally blackmailing them to invest in his business. Apart from this, he also has assured the investors of providing them  flats and a travel to Israel among other inducements. Among those who were influenced by his conniving words were people from Mangalore, Pune, Bangalore as well as Dubai, Lancy D'Souza has alleged in his complaint.

Police have registered a case under section 406, 420, 34 and are looking for the culprits.

Dear Friends, Let us learn some lesson from this, speaking / messaging / replying so many comments would rather clog our mind rather then teach us something. Read it, Learn the lesson, accept it and then if possible teach the same to others or else there is no point in having faith which is done through a relegion to create a society, to create like mindedness.

Really sad to read the head lines and whom to blame don't understand but to point out at religion it's bad because when we go for prayer, we should do the same not bring business or money matter in between. Now blaming to certain to indvidual and community it dosnt looks good, always if we take care of our self, this sort of things will not happend and the followers only the supporters for the said crime to happend. Let us pray to the Almight to give them peace of mind and to solve the problems without any problems. I believe and hopes that if Saldhana Couple did in the name of "Jesus" they will pay back the hardned money to the concerned people and don't be panic.

    Dear Preethi Pinto,

I am responding to the catholics' responses here below with the holier than thou attitude. What this man has done is cheated a lot of gullible people and here you go calling certain groups of bible believing people names and judging as though you are sitting on the right hand of God. I do not cheat anyone either in the name of God or not. Do you know me that you say that I do not work for the poor or am a cheat? I am offended that you just bad mouth Christians who are not catholics - I am one such christian and blessed to be one(of course according to you and many others here only catholics are christians) - I believe a follower (who does what he asks us to do) of Jesus Christ is a christian be a catholic or from any other denomination. I am glad that you know how to read the bible because my bible says the truth will set you free and I believe it will!! God Bless you.

This is blind faith of the believers. Dont be after the people who propagate faith for the sake of money and loot the people in the name of religion. rather go to the Church and have faith in the Lord with the Priest of God who at least reach us to complete our spiritual needs and as per our belief appointed by God it HIM self. So these kind of people come and go but the Kingdom of God of Lord Jesus Christ (Faith) will remail for ever, be faithful to Him all the time.

I am totally shocked to read comments of so called pious and righteous Catholics. Read ur bible first. Jesus came & died so all have access to him. The bible says not all who call him father will be with him in heaven. V need to have a personal relationship with him. If U think only priests have access to Jesus and you are second class citizens, why put your trust in such a god who doesn't think U R fit enough for him? I believe in Jesus and hear from him daily - to do this you need to develop a sensitivity to the holy spirit and that is done only by having a relationship with him and NOT being religious. "The word of God is a lamp unto my feet" - let the word lead you to truth too.

Stephen, you should try it. God hears you and you can get his "messages" daily if you open your heart to him. The catholic church was so corrupt and made its own rules (read history) and those that read the bible saw that God's rules (in the bible) were different from man made, money making rules and redeemed themselves. If you read your bible maybe you will see the truth. If the catholic church is THE church, and all others are bogus christians.. how come the old Mangalorean bishop had lakhs of rupees under his bed? Did he get his teaching frm prayer groups?

People like Dayananda it is better for you to be quiet than make a fool of yourself... what about Nityananda, sai baba.. list will go on.. The case here is about a man cheating. No religious group is exempt from having such people.

People are sensitive and vnerable to religious black mail across all communities and no community is immune to this. Lack of religious knowledge, knowledge about the Creator and greed for material wealth is the main reason for getting cheated.... Not at all a surprise... God and religion are entirely two
    different identities. There were
more wars and bloodshed in history,
in the name of religion, than any
    other cause.

    During the last two decades,
many crooks of all religions have
taken " religion " as a rip off
    tool to get rich.

    While watching the many electronic
preachers, they are all the same
    with the same message of
"divine prosperity and health", provided, if the listeners send them money. God has not appointed
any of them as exclusive "divine
    representitives" to collect money
    to dispense heavenly blessings.

The late Oral Roberts was the
    patriarch of the "propsperity
    gospel movement". While attending
    Philips University (no more in
    operation), one day he read
the third Epistle of John 1:2
" Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in
health, just as your soul prospers". And he explored a new
    terminology of "seed faith" giving.
But, this new idea has been
used by hundreds of preachers around the world, and getting mega rich.

We must be compassionate to the
suffering people we meet every day,
and God will bless us for our
    compassionate heart.

But, when we send our hard-earned
    money to every religious guru
in fancy outfits, we are simply
making them and their family rich,
and we are making ourselves poor.

Recently one research survey published their finding-Religion is the Most Profitable business in the World.
Why blame anybody for our fault-we believe in preachers than Jesus-in whose name they undertake fake healing sessions to fool the gullible & ask u to donate 10% of your earnings to God-as stated in Old Testament-from which they quote only those points which are beneficial to their business. They take photos of their charity & extract their pound of flesh(money).
As Long as there are people who believe them, they will thrive. The day all will dump them & turn to real God & his Words, they stop fleecing the public.

Recently a case was filed against a madrassa teacher and others for raping a girl in Chikmagalur Dist.

But the english media gives wide publicity only to the instances involving Hindus to defame the Hindu Dharma. Lot of people would always be waiting for such news to criticise Hindu institutions here.

The Hindus should note all these developments and should be on guard against these systematic campaigns.

It is really sad that people do not understand, why they must follow some one to satisfy their spiritual need.
1.A religious leader is one who is recognized by a religious body as having some authority within that body.
2.The leader of a religious order.
3.In Catholicism, any of a number of individuals, including priests, Cardinals, Bishops, and the Supreme Pontiff.

We must remember that, In His famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus issued the following warning regarding false prophets or PREACHERS: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:15). Jesus being the great Shepherd, His followers are portrayed as sheep. Yet these false prophets only appear to be Jesus' followers. Their true nature is one of devouring the lives of the unsuspecting—as a wolf among the flock."

The culprit should punished by maximum punishment {If They Found Guilty} that is death because if they cheated God as well community in God’s name.
