Muscat: MCCP Celebrates Spiritual Day with Ardour

Muscat, Mar 23: To mark the spirit-filled Lenten season, a powerful and devotional prayer programme was organized by the executive committee of Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) at the main parish hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi here recently.
 
The young children of the community - Dale Dantis, Ryan Fernandes, Shaun D’Silva, Clarissa D’Souza, Rhea Correa, Andril Lobo, Lisa D’Sa, Stacy Vaz, Vanessa Rego and Josua Tharakkan welcomed the faithful with bright candles. A hymn of glory and welcome was presented by the Konknani Community choir mastered by Apolinaris D’Souza, well-known composer, musician and singer of the Konkani community.

Fr Albert D Silva, OFM Cap, parish priest of Holy Spirit Church Ghala and one of the spiritual advisor of MCCP had sent a special message for the day and it was read by Monica Dantis, president of MCCP. Monica Dantis also extended a warm welcome to the participants and wished a graceful season of lent to every one.   



Robert Vaz, hailing from Siddakatte Parish, Mangalore Diocese and well-known leader of the Konkani Community prayer group of Sts. Peter and Paul Church Ruwi conducted a meaningful and inspiring Praise and Worship session which brought a touching gracious moments among the people gatherd. 

Leena Fernandes, a community activist at the Holy Spirit Church, Ghala, an active member of Ghala prayer group and Intercessory prayer group team member, presented a talk on Repentance with a basic guidelines on to have a clean and  pure heart in everyone’s life.

The seven sorrows of Mother Mary were meaningfully translated into Konkani by Fr Andrew D’souza, parish Priest of Mudipu Parish, Mangalore and presented by Mariete Fernandes, Victoria Soares, Lancy Sequeira, Stany Soares, Apolinaris D’Souza and the Konkani choir team

Fr Raul Ramos, parish priest of the Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi celebrated Holy Mass in English and gave meaningful homily.  NancyVaz, Cyprian Misquith, Jacintha Serrao, Celine D’Souza presented the readings during the Holy Mass.

Reena Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.

The main sponsors of the day were Leo Quadros, chairman and managing director of Regency Developers Pvt Ltd, Bangalore and Addhia Trading and Contracting LLC – Oman, Denis  Mascarenhas – managing director of Prestige Projects & Engineering Supplies LLC and  Valerian Peris.
 
The programme concluded with a Lenten dinner prepared by Arsalan restaurant. The participants expressed their joy and satisfaction of experiencing a wonderful spiritual programme.
