Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Jun 28: A woman teacher lost Rs 7.47 lac as she was asked to call customer care of bank to update her KYC through internet banking mode. She also got the loan through online transaction, but the same was siphoned off by the fraudster.

The teacher who got fleeced by the trickster is a faculty of government high school and resident of Koppamaderi of Nelyadi village.

A message was received on the mobile of teacher’s son on June 11 saying that the ATM card is blocked. On June 23, another message was received from mobile number 7029216854 which asked to call customer care number 8240871104 of bank and update KYC.

When the bank personnel called the teacher about the mobile number change on the account, she came to know that she has been taken for ride by fraudster. She immediately rushed to the bank and checked that Rs eight lac was credited to her bank on June 23. Out of that Rs 7.47 lac were withdrawn in various stages.

When inquired with the bank manager, he told that Rs eight lac loan was taken by the account holder of complainant (teacher in this case). Once the amount was deposited, the money was withdrawn in stages.

A case in this connection is registered in cyber-crime police station.

This is the tragedy of our systems, policies governing the information systems and data privacy management. Some half educated Minister will issue orders to introduce new process for administration and Babus will serve the public half cooked potatoes and kireng.........!!!?????. Poor public has to bear the burden and cost of all these problems without realising the impending disasters. It is unlikely that all these frauds happen without the connivance of the people who leak individual privacy data of the citizens for reward. How these fraudsters get to know the exact phone numbers, bank in which one holds account and so on. Most surprising fact is that our IT systems, advanced technology experts from crime, intelligence organization s are not able to track and nail the fraudsters. Only shouting and chest thumping, beating on podium stand but end result is suffering, pain and distress to common man. The latest add up to these horrors is our GST and new IT systems. God help the poor and common man of this country. Just look at the present situation of Maharashtra Government and its elected representatives as to understand what kind of law and governance we are in. Now this poor teacher has to run pillar to post to come out of the mess she is been pushed into. Sorry state of affairs.

On September 17, 2021, the Kodigehalli police registered an FIR stating that 104 hard disks, 20 CPUs, 108 memory cards were missing from the 3rd floor of the UIDAI’s data centre building. In addition, several rack servers, blade servers, network switches, 17 airflow guides and one system board were either missing or suffered damage. Interestingly, UIDAI didn’t file the complaint but a manager of HP Enterprises India who supplied the devices did. Though the theft happened in its building, the UIDAI did not file a complaint. Instcead, it denied the theft altogether. ~Deccan Herald~

Most of our population, even educated ones, get confused with internet transactions and the various formalities associated with banking so smart crooks can easily take advantage of the gullible people through various loopholes in the system! Even the much publicized Aadhar card is not at all safe and is easily compromised; thanks to our intelligent fools who introduced it, first in the name of ID proof and later forcing gullible public to connect it for each and every transaction!!

This case is totally confusing. First of all, did the teacher applied on line loan? On what basis on line loan that big amount was credited to her account? From where? same bank branch? IF she applied loan, why she kept it in her account? Normally loans are procured for urgent need of fund. Fraudsters withdrawn it is stages. Some thing fishy. Teacher must lodge compliant against bank too.

putting the pieces together, looks like someone has taken a loan against the FD of the teacher. and withdrawn the money.... all alerts of these transactions must have gone to fraudulent new number and not to the teacher's number...

They say every teacher is the first student of any class... Poor teacher has had a costly lesson... I hope she doesn't learn the same chapter again... Jokes aside we must never believe calls from mobile numbers... Always call the official toll free numbers of the bank to get any facility... I only hope she doesn't have to repay the loan she never had really received...

though my bank asked me to do online internet banking i have never opted for it...extremely dangerous..using banks app on mobile for money transfer is still okay as for every transaction you get an OTP on your mobile and only when you enter the same the transactioin goes through...however, in internet banking if someone gets your password...gathi govinda.....moreover...in the 21st century one must be very alert....

real kujuma, kodial: I dont know whether you are too much intelligent or totally illiterate. Money transfer process is one and the same in internet banking as well through mobile app. Both the places if your login details hacked anything can be changed by going to your profile. then what is the use of OTP if you are mobile number itself been updated? Coming to fraud here... please dont ever use any option for ekyc. if yo get such calls just tell them we will go to bank branch and update that. thats the only option to stop these frauds.

These are the details furnished by the bank employees itself. Otherwise outsiders wont come to know the name, telephone no. And details. May be not done by the employees who work there but pass on the details to north ...from there only progress..."operation successful but patient died..." Now a days no sims are available without proper aadhar card and some eye verification etc. How these fraudsters work on such sims ? Why cyber could not do anything on these online frauds??.
