Metro Service to be Restricted on Holi

New Delhi, March 17 (IANS) Metro services in the city will be closed till 2 p.m. Sunday for Holi because of less passenger footfall and security concerns, an official said Thursday.

"On the Holi festival March 20, Metro services will not be available till 2 p.m. on all six lines Dilshad Garden to Rithala, Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre, Noida City Centre to Dwarka Sec-21, Anand Vihar to Yamuna Bank, Inderlok to Mundka and Central Secretariat to Badarpur," said Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal.

The Metro feeder bus services will be curtailed for the entire day, he said.

"There are security concerns and also the passenger footfall is not much. Last year also, we had suspended services for Holi," said another Metro official.

Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated widely in the capital as also in northern India, and most of the public transport services are closed till well past noon.
