Jammu Kashmir Deputy Speaker Rejects Speaker's Plea

Jammu, March 12 (IANS) Deputy Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir assembly Sartaj Madni Saturday rejected appeals by Speaker Akbar Lone and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar to withdraw his resignation.

In a letter to the speaker, Madni said he had considered his "advice" but said that he was not going to change his mind.

He has disclosed that similar advice has been made to him by the law and parliamentary affairs minister.

Madni resigned 10 days ago against the alleged "partisan" role of the speaker.

Since then the speaker and Sagar have made separate requests to him to withdraw the resignation. But Madni has rejected all these pleas.
