Massive Fire Guts Machinery in Uttar Pradesh Warehouse

Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 26 (IANS) A major fire broke out in a warehouse of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) here Saturday morning, gutting machinery and equipment worth around Rs.50 lakh, an official said. No casualty was reported.

Eight fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire at the warehouse of UPPCL in Bamrauli area.

"Shortly after the fire erupted, it spread to a major portion of the warehouse, gutting transformers, cables and other machinery housed in a repairing unit," Chief Fire Officer Satish Chandra told reporters in Allahabad, some 200 km from state capital Lucknow.
