Introduce Indian Regulatory Service, PM Told

Hyderabad, Feb 6 (IANS) Chief Justice of India S.H. Kapadia Sunday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to consider introducing an Indian Regulatory Service (IRS) on the lines of IAS and IPS.

"This is very important step because we need experts," Justice Kapadia at the 17th Commonwealth Law Conference here after Manmohan Singh formally inaugurated it.

"You can't have a commissioner of income tax sitting in SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) deciding certain matters. We need experts in regulatory laws by which a common man will get the benefit," he said.
