Mumbai: Tenth Annual Graduation Day held at St John Technical Campus, Palghar

Mumbai, Apr 11: St John Technical Campus, based in Palghar District has become a replica of quality Education and Value added life skills training. From humble beginnings with an Engineering and Management Institute in 2008, to a multi-disciplinary campus in 2021-2022, the Aldel Education Trust founder, of St. John Technical Campus have set new standards to impart Holistic Education, in the rural corridor of Plaghar District to create future ready Human Resource.

From Higher education in Management Studies, Engineering and Pharmacy, to degree programs like BFM, BBI, BMS, BAF, B.Com, Bsc IT BSC Computer Science, BSC Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Botany, Hospitality Studies and BA in Economics, Sociology and Psychology, A State Board Junior College, State Board School and a CBSE School, St. John’s Palghar campus has a host of programs to empower generation next, to take their rightful place in history.

Graduation from any higher education programme is an honour in itself and celebrating this life achievement with a special event with inputs from distinguished guests along with Parents, Teachers and Peers makes the graduating ceremony a memorable event. Understanding this need to link Industry inputs and create lifelong learning outcomes, St John Technical Campus has been organizing the Annual Graduation Day since 2012.

The two year long lockdown, had its effect on every sphere of life, and its toll was felt greatly in the field of Education with 90% of its functioning moving on-line. The 2020-21 graduate batches had lost much due to this moment us change. They had lost precious peer learning and face-to face interaction, which nothing can ever replace. Hence, with over 1000 students having graduated out from its host of institutions in 2021, the management of Aldel Education Trust (AET) organized the 10th Annual Graduation Day Ceremony on 19th March 2022 at the spacious auditorium hall of the St John Engineering and Management College.

The function was held in two parts, from 9:30 am to 12:30 noon for the graduates of the MMS programme and Humanities and Sciences and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm for students who had graduated from Engineering and Pharmacy Programs respectively. The chief guest for the morning function was Fr Reuben Tellis parish priest, Mt Carmel Church, and Bandra, wile Dr Anuradha Mazumdar, Dean Science and Technology University of Mumbai, graced the afternoon session as the chief guest.

Other guests on the dais were Albert W D’Souza, Chairman, (AET), Elvina D’Souza, Secretary (AET), Elaine D’Souza Buthello, Treasurer (AET), Aldridge D’Souza, Member (AET), Dr D Henry Babu, Campus Director, Dr Savita Tauro, Deputy Campus Director and Principal, St John College of Pharmacy and Research, Dr G.V Mulgund, Principal, St. John College of Engineering and Management, Dr Brajabandhu Das, Principal, St John College of Humanities and Sciences, Vidyadhar Patil, Head-Human Resource and Sudhir Babu, Human Resource Manager.

The programme began to the beat of the ceremonial band of the students of St John International CBSE School, as the graduating students and dignitaries were ushered into the auditorium, followed by the invocation to the Almighty through the singing of the Universal Prayer for peace and the lighting of the lamp along with Saraswati Vandana playing in the background.

This was followed by a short video address by the Maharashtra Governor and Honorable Chancellor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof Suhas Pednekar, University of Mumbai. Thereafter, Albert W D’Souza addressed the gathering and welcomed the chief guest which was followed by the address from the Chief Guests and the distribution of the convocation certificates. After the distribution of the degree certificates, the principals of the individual colleges proposed the vote of thanks.

233 students from St John College of Humanities and Sciences and 41 students from St John Institute of Management and Research were awarded the degree during the morning session and 584 students from Engineering and Pharmacy colleges received their certificates in the afternoon session. The program was broadcasted live on YouTube. A large number of parents/guardians were present to witness this grand occasion.

The ceremony ended with the National Anthem. Finally, a department-wise photo-session was arranged to create a life-time memory for the students.
