Mumbai: Meeting of Bhajana Parishat Mumbai unit and Federation of Bhajana Mandalis held

Mumbai, April 4: “A parishat like this is necessary to bring all the Bhajana Mandali in the city under one umbrella. A large Bhajana workshop can be held next year if all work in tandem,” said trustee Devu Poojary.

He was speaking after presiding over at Asalfa Durgambika temple auditorium on April 3, the joint meeting of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajana Parishat Mumbai unit and the federation of Bhajana Mandalis in the city.

Honorary chief secretary Ravindra Shanti in his introductory address explained his experience of the workshop at Dharmasthala held recently. Nagesh Suvarna said that bringing all the Bhajana mandalis on one platform, showcase their talents and solving the problems is the intention of starting the Bhajana unit. Chandrahasa Rai Puttur shared his experience of participating in the workshops thrice and said that he teaches Bhajans to more than 650 students.

Shantaram Putran said that Dasa tradition has made the Bhajans rich. New office bearers were elected on the occasion.

Trustee Devu Poojary was elected president, Nagesh Suvarna, vice president, Ravindra Shanti – honorary chief secretary, Shantaram Putran – treasurer, Chandrahas Rai Puttur – joint treasurer, Praful Sriyan, Raghavendra Shanbhog, Janardhan Salian, Vaman Suvarna, Dhananjay Shetty, Lohitaksha, Kusha R Poojary and Ashok Shetty were elected executive committee members.

Chandrahas Rai sang a prayer. Ravindra Shanti compered the programme, requested those who have not registered their names to get registered and rendered a vote of thanks.
