Mumbai: Refusal to pay money to buy liquor – Man killed, eight arrested

Mumbai, Mar 21: A man was killed in suburban Versova for refusing to pay money to buy liquor. Eight people are arrested by the police for the crime.

The murder took place at Seven Bungalows area on the night of Friday. Police took the accused in custody on Saturday.

Suraj Sanjay Jhinjotiya is the deceased. He was stopped by Ravi Singh and his accomplices near his residence. Ravi and others demanded money from deceased Suraj to buy liquor. When Suraj refused to pay the money, they beat him with bamboo sticks. Suraj who was grievously injured due to the attack was left on the spot and the killers escaped from the spot.

A passerby who knew deceased Suraj informed the matter to his colleague, who in turn informed the same to his family members. Police were called and they shifted Suraj to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Police have arrested all eight accused and further investigation is under way.
