Eight Killed in Maharashtra Accident


Akola (Maharashtra), Jan 18 (IANS): Eight people, including a one-year-old girl, were killed Tuesday when the jeep they were travelling in rammed into a stationary trailer on a highway in Maharashtra's Akola district, police said.

"The incident took place at Loni village on National Highway No.6 this (Tuesday) morning. The family of seven and the driver died on the spot," a police official said.

Those killed have been identified as Meenal Jain, 30, Minu Jain, 30, Subodh Jain, 55, Sagar Jain, 32, Santosh Jain, 60, Sandhya Jain, 50 and one-year-old Gudiya.

The driver of the jeep, Rahul Deshmukh, was also killed.
