Over 2000 KSRP police slim down, return de-addicted in a year

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 6: The Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) personnel were told by the additional director general of police, Alok Kumar, to shed excess body weight. Within a year from then, around 2000 police personnel of the force have brought down their weights and turned slimmer. About 200 of them have got rid of their addictions.

Immediately after taking charge of KSRP, Alok Kumar began to concentrate on the health condition of the force. He noticed that every year, a number of policemen died after contracting one illness or the other. He therefore issued stern instructions to them to bring down their weights. He gave a lot of importance to the fitness of the KSRP personnel.

The police were given a deadline to achieve the reduction in body weight. In one year, the results achieved have been excellent. The police personnel who could not run and who often fell sick, have now become slim and fit. The 2000-strong KSRP force is attracting the attention of the people now.

There has been considerable reduction in the death rate of KSRP personnel. Some of the personnel availed leave without pay for three months, enrolled for de-addiction camps and came back hale and healthy. While 200 have kicked their addictions, 57 policemen are still under treatment.

The officials say that the KSRP personnel who played a responsible role during the Covid19 pandemic, have seen a marked reduction in the death rate in 2021 as compared to the previous year.

The Karnataka State Armed Reserve Police force has a staff of 14,000. In the past, reducing the weight of the police personnel had become a big challenge and in 2020, 50 policemen had died due to different diseases. Because of this, a deadline was given and instructions issued to bring the body weight to healthy levels. More care was given to staff who suffered from serious ailments. People were given exemption from duties and barred from using liquor, tobacco, smoking etc. The officials also said that the staff were curtly told that they can hope to get promotions only if they improved their health condition and brought down their body weight.

The department meets the medical expenses of the staff. Every year a health check up is conducted and support given to those facing serious problems.

Why troubling this police..... Anyhow they don't have to run behind anybody...... there are enough jobless jokers who will chase the vehicles carrying cows, do surveillance of youths (from different religions / castes / sects) roaming together in beaches and other places / cinema etc., track people getting converted, find out those perpetrating Love Jihad etc. etc. etc...... The entire law and order is taken care by the saffron jokers..... Let the Policemen leisurely do Passport verification or any such (un)important jobs.....
