Anusha Bhat arrives at Mangaluru airport from war-torn Ukraine

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Mar 3: Student from the city, Anusha Bhat, arrived at the international airport here from Ukraine on Thursday March 3. Anusha’s family, the MP Nlain Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, welcomed her at the airport.

Anusha hails from Bejai and was pursuing her third year MBBS. She was one among the 18 students stranded in Ukraine after Russia declared war on it.

She said, “We took a bus from Vinnytsia to Chernivtsi, a border town in Ukraine. From there we reached the Romanian border. We had to walk for about 2 km towards the border post and then cross it by road. There were no government officials at the spot. Only Ukrainian army officers were deployed.

“We went to the immigration authorities at the Romanian border. We were then shifted to a shelter in Romania for two days. The Indian government then facilitated a flight to Mumbai from Bucharest,” she said.

Anusha's parents, Vidya and Harishchandra Bhat, thanked the deputy commissioner, MLA and MP for their constant help.

Its sad to see everyone talking about political agendas but completely ignoring the root cause. Why is medical education so expensive in india, especially Karnataka, that even more students who are deserving but cannot afford to do the course here? Education system should be revolutionized to enable the deserving students a fair opportunity to do their studies in India.

Why do parents send children to war zones? This Russian - Ukraine conflict is full on since 2014 when Russian forces annexed Crimea and partly infiltrated Donetsk region. After Zrlensky party "Servant of the people" won election in 2019 ,the situation aggravated it was just delayed due to Covid 19. Parents and students should be in touch with reality at all times.Politicians do politics. Why rely on inept govt officials?last moment transport can end in disaster. If these students were labour ,would u see flowers and smiles or police lathi. Charge like the Poor migrants walking on road in 2020? We r truly a society which does not see beyond one's own private profit.

Vishal Bhakta, When was Ukraine became an enemy of India and when was Russia was an enemy of India. Chaiwala Prime Minister spoke to Puttin via telephone a day before yesterday. Wasn't he had time to speak to both the countries well in advance for the safe evacuation of Indians from Ukraine?! It is a greatest gross failure from the Indian government's failure of evacuations. When was Ukraine became an enemy of India. Indians were respected all over the world after 2014 as per bhaktas and what happened now all of a sudden Ukraine an enemy?!

Only request to MLA and MP, please give back to her the money she spent to return from Ukraine to the border. This will be better than giving a rose or garland. She would lose more money for studying MBBS for the past three years in Ukraine if the war continues and Russia takes over

From the war torn Iraq-Kuwait, Indian prime minister has taken concrete steps to evacuate Indians swiftly and freely from Kuwait. Dr. ManMohan Singh swiftly and freely evacuated 16,000/- Indians from the civil war of Libya. Presently Indian prime minister is very busy in elections propaganda in favor of BJP. And our Indian students in Ukraine are struggling to get out from the war in between Ukraine and Russia.

To all who compare Kuwait evacuation to Ukraine, Please note that Kuwait had easily given in within few hours from the Iraqi invasion without any ressistance. There was no war from Aug 2nd Aug1990 to Jan 91 when US started bombarding to liberate Kuwait. Hence all expats could to leave to Amman Jordan by road without any hassle during the interim period. Indian Govt airlifted from there. Moreover Iraq was an India friendly country and Indian PP holders had no issues . Here the scene is different, Ukraine is an enemy nation that is at war . Moreover Russia is a super power and perhaps 100times advanced technically and stronger than Iraq, You can imagine the intensity. India is trying to evacuate from midst of an ongoing war .We have to appreciate the efforts.

BEING APOLITICAL --- It is to be known there was a fund created by UPA GOVT -- ICWF -- INDIAN COMMUNITY WELFARE FUND -- It was to help Indians in distress in foreign lands- It included free air passage other immediate expenses to facilitate stranded Indians -- war zone etc -- Boarding / lodging -- most essential before evacuating --medical emergencies -- etc ------------------------------------------- IN 2017 the present ruling dispensation -- MODI GOVT -- changed the guidelines to include the FUND for celebration -- Indian functions-mainly publicity -- other non essentials ---events not of very great importance except for publicity so on and so forth --

Another shameless self promotion exercise and it is sickening to watch them fo this!!!! In Romania, Scindia got schooled by a Romanian mayor on how to take care of distressed citizens. When are these fellows ever going to learn that it is the govt's duty to help Indians in need. It is not a favour they are doing and on top of that, this drama!!!! Jokers!!!

Caste based reservation in India is the biggest issue of all time. Even my brother is pursuing M.tech from Germany because he was unable to get seat in India. More than 60% of seats Reserved for ST, SC and OBC regardless their Economic condition. Even Crorepati ST, SC's take advantage of this reservation. High time now. No Dignity for General Class people. We all should unite and force Govt. against these caste based reservation in Education Institutions in India and this is the only reason why India lags behind in every sector because there is reservation in every sector.

I was expecting total abolition of caste and creed based reservations in all sectors which has virtually divided and degraded the country. Unfortunately the present govt. is also following their predecessors.
