Bengaluru, Feb 15: The Congress legislature party (CLP) which met here on Monday February 14, decided to carry on an intensive fight against the attitude of the government in allegedly neglecting the constituencies that are represented by the Congress legislators.

The meeting, which was presided over by the leader of the opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah held detailed discussions and consultations about the release of grants. The party also decided to corner the government by raising issues like the bitcoin scandal and 40 percent commission among others.

The MLAs pointed out that Rs 50 crore each had been sanctioned as grants to the constituencies represented by the BJP legislators while those belonging to the Congress party have not got any grant.

In his opening remarks, Siddaramaiah alleged that the address by the Governor was 'full of lies'. He accused the government of projecting some of the programmes implemented by the Congress as those of the BJP.

"We are unable to get grants for developmental activities. The government points to Covid-19 situation to justify its stand. The government has become bankrupt financially. The finances of the government are in very bad shape. The state gets three lac crore in the form of taxes every year. But the central government provides GST compensation of Rs 50,000 to 60,000 crore," hie stated.

Siddaramaiah said that the government has not given even a single house to the poor during the last four years. He said that the government keeps releasing advertisements through the newspapers and there too it has been making false claims.

"The government had said that it would spend Rs 1 lac crore for irrigation but it failed to keep this word. Hyderabad-Karnataka region of Karnataka has not got any funds for development and its only plus point is that it has been renamed as 'Kalyana Karnataka'," he said.

Siddaramaiah announced that the party will rake issues like the 40 percent commission allegation made by the Contractors' Association, National Education Policy, and several other issues on the floor of the house for discussion.

Leader of the opposition in the council, B K Hariprasad, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar, working presidents, Ishwar Khandre, Saleem Ahmed and Ramalinga Reddy, deputy leader of the opposition in the assembly, U T Khader, senior leaders, Deshpande, H K Patil, All India Congress Committee election observers, Sudarshan Nachaiappan and Abraham were present.
