Mangaluru, Feb 3: The women's police station of Pandeshwar has arrested five persons for allegedly forcing minor girls and women into prostitution with false entrappments and blackmail in SMR Liana Apartments near Nandigudda of Attavar in the city. The action was taken based on a complaint by a victim, a 17-year-old girl against two women and a man.
As per the complaint, Shameena has rented an apartment in Leona Apartments and has been committing this crime with the help of her husband Siddique. A woman named Aishamma and some others were also cooperating with Siddique and Shameena in this business, it says.
According to the details unearthed so far by the police in the interrogation, accused were enticing girls going to college for studies and use blackmail tactics on minors to push them into prostitution.
The mobile handsets of the accused have been confiscated by the police and sent for technical examination to bust the network.
Police have so far arrested Shameena, her husband Siddique, Aishamma and two unknown people. Three more people who were helping the duo to carry out the crime are absconding. Pandeshwar Women's Police are investigating further.
