Mangaluru, Jan 14: To broaden Horizons and give a bird’s eye view of various courses in graduation a career guidance session was organised.
Career guidance session for students of class 12 A and B was organised on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 8.15 am in the AV room. The resource person for the session was Dr Ganesh Mogaveer and Akshay Krishna from Mangaluru Institute of Technology, Moodabidri.
The programme began with the universal prayer and prayer song followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The welcome address was delivered by Arman Ayub. The principal Fr Robert D Souza addressed the gathering, motivating the students to benefitfrom the session. He also emphasised the fact that it does not matter what we become in the future as long as we stay humble and render our help and support to others around us. He also mentioned that the world is opening up to new experiences and opportunities and we must spread our wings and try until we succeed. He also motivated us to appear for the Civil Services examinations.
The stage was then lent to Dr Ganesh who started the session off with advising us to choose a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound) career. He said that to have a stable career, one must choose the proper college after PUC to ensure that all the academic and non-academic needs are fulfilled. He listed out courses both in Engineering and Medical fields that students can pursue after class 12. To live a happy and satisfied life, we must love what we do and so while choosing careers, we must select what we are passionate about instead of what others want for us. He mentioned that we must look beyond the four years of learning while choosing our life’s work. The ratio of our future job must be 50% of knowledge and 50% of skill and amongst all this we must have good leadership and communication skills to prosper in our career.
The session ended with the vote of thanks by Andrea Alva of 12 A and was compered by Nesha P Dineshan. It was an enriching session for the students.
