Chikkamagaluru: Hindu organisations hold protest urging to vacate Cross on government land

Daijiworld Media Network – Chikkamagaluru (MS)

Chikkamagaluru, Jan 6: Activists of Bajrang Dal (BD) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) held protest procession from Deepti Circle in Karugunda village of Narasimharajapura of the district on Wednesday urging the removal of cross that is allegedly installed illegally. Police however, stopped the protesters midway and arrested them. Later they were released.

Sakleshpur Raghu, provincial convener of BD, R D Mahendra, district convener, K P Suresh Kumar, Taluk president of VHP led the protesters from Deepti Circle. When the procession reached Uma Maheshwari temple Circle, they were stopped by the police. Verbal duel ensued between police and BD leaders, who urged tahsildar to give explanation to their query.

Tahsildar Geetha and zonal forest officer Ranganath arrived on the spot. Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Kumar said, “Cross is erected on government land at Karagunda village. Later a church will be built there. Then it will become a religious conversion centre. Though a petition is given to the local tahsildar, unnecessary delay is done in implementing our request. If the government is not going to remove that cross, Hindu organisations will do it.”

Addressing the protesters BD convener Raghu said, “According to the information we have got, more than 180 crosses are erected on government land in Narasimharajapura. People of one community are encroaching the land that is allotted to poor people under Form number 50 and 53. We will give suitable answer for this.”

Tahsildar Geetha replied to the demand of protesters and said that they will take suitable legal action within a week after conducting a survey along with forest department and revenue departments. After the assurance of the tahsildar, protest was called off.

As a shareholder of govt. land, i want ALL structures that encroach upon govt. land to be lawfully removed and the encroachers penalized // Every citizen of this land is a shareholder of govt. land./// It is meant for roads, parks, footpaths, playgrounds, forests etc. etc. etc. ; i.e.: common amenities for all peoples or to assist and aid the economically challenged or those challenged by certain health issues. //The illegitimate law called akrama-sakrama is not just abused by “spiritual business houses”, it is also abused by corrupt citizens to usurp govt. land free of cost.// The foolish minority of law abiding citizens have to work hard, save and pay their life savings or take loans to buy or rent and live in pigeon holes . While vote bank corrupt citizens and their groups usurp govt. land and turn into landlords earning “haram” money by milking the very people whom they illegally stole from.//Then if the road has to be widened these same chors/dacoits will form groups and hold protests and seek compensation thus further looting the law-abiding honest tax-payers who do not steal and eat.//The best time to observe these usurpations is about 1-2 years before and after any election.//A corrupt people can only produce corrupt politicians to misgovern them. The circle of corruption never ends due to continuous supply.

Lokesh Mulki,OH Lokeshanna ,first findout what is the symbol cross on Ambulance is And why they use green dress during operation is .Then let us talk about it.First of all Govt land is not only for Hindus it is for all reserved by Govt. That means doesnt belong to only Hindus.Govt has the right to give to anyone where it is needed who it needs,So now calm down you volk.Cross on Ambulance is a world wide symbol of cross to the help to the injured .Green is used during Opertion is just red colour of blood will not shine on green much when the lights of operation theater above and operator may not get distracted.By other colours zb.on white it will look horrible.Even Catholics too have right to place a cross .but when Govt demands to remove we will do .why so much ignorance by them I dont know. When they say we will build church there ?to convert? They have nothing inside their brain except conversion.cant build school or any Hospital ,or a firm to give jobs to jobless ?Wake up you all sleeping and brainless ne .

CROSS in intself holds no power. For a Christian most important thing is to read the Bible and meditate on it and ask the Holy Spirit for revelation of His word. Never to worry about these silly things. A truly born again Christian will have problems and persecutions in their lives. God's eyes are on His people and not on the people of the world.

People have misunderstood The Cross... Horizontal bar of the cross represents we are all brothers and sisters, Verticle bar represents God or all prayers go to God! Cross represents all people need to be suffer to go to Heaven. Same like, with hard work only success. Those enjoying in life here on earth without God, future will see hellish situation or hell. For them Cross is a Critical Requirement of Saving Souls or getting saved for Eternity as our soul is Eternal. Those who already suffering Cross is a Casual / Common Requirement of Saving Souls.

In 1974, Rev. Chris Panos, the renowned American Evangelist had come to Mangalore for evangelization and healing services at Nehru Maidan, Hampankatta. I was then studying at St. Alloysius High School where, during a class, one of our Teachers made a mention of it - narrating the spellbinding preaching. Out of curiosity, my friend and I attended the services in the evening, where we witnessed several swift healings and heard testimonies. Suddenly and to our utter shock, there were shouts from the congregation, some people pelting stones at the Evangilist, decrying of conversion. That was the RSS clan opposing and obstructing the divine proceedings. The evangelist continued with his services unmoved by the threats (he died last year at the age of 86). Amongst them were two youths whom I knew very well. The consequences of their wicked actions were disastrous. One committed suicide months after the event, while the huge family business of the second person went bust. I heard later that he too died, but am unsure. Neither have I seen him again. I wonder what happened to the others as they were unknown to me. A line of caution though: Never mess up with Christianity and its cross which is far more powerful than any weapon in existence or dreamt of in our fecund imagination.

@ Mr. Ronald Pais, I think this unfortunate incident of stone pelting occurred in 1979, a few days after I attended one of his sessions. He had said he loves the people and the then serene small city of Mangalore and promised to return the following year. Rev. Chris Panos was indeed a very bold and fearless preacher.

If Govt is impartial and not following appeasing policy, it should remove all the illegal religious structures built on Govt land espetically on footpaths. Justice should be done to everyone. Howevver, i dont agree with these goondas who are not asking to remove many many tiny mandirs on footpath. They are targing other communities only. "Govt should not allow these anti nationals to take law in their hand and take strict action for creating disturbance whcih may lead to distruction of Govt + private property.
