Udupi: MLA Raghupati Bhat suspects politicisation of Hijab issue by vested interests

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD/MS)

Udupi, Jan 3: “Chaos is being created intentionally with regards to the wearing of Hijab in government PU college for girls. Uniform is compulsory in this college since 1985. The girls who wore Hijab to college, have attended classes without the Hijab for one and a half year. This issue is being politicized due to some vested interests,” said MLA Raghupati Bhat reacting to the controversy that was created in government PU college for girls.

He further said, “Let the government decide whether uniform is required or not. We have written letter to the PU college board. If uniform is not compulsory then do not make in mandatory for anyone. Is it okay to wear saffron head shawl, jeans pant or sleeveless top to college? Is there opportunity to wear the kind of dress a person wishes? The government should consider this issue seriously and take a decision keeping in mind the future of students.

“Uniform means equality. Dr Ambedkar said that there should be equality in education. If one wears Hijab, it depicts religious inequality. The Delhi High court has already given verdict with regards to uniform. Rule should be same for all in public places. In this college, there are many Muslim girl students. Only few have created controversy because of some political backing.

“There is harmonious relations between religions in our district. That should continue. Now some students of the college have asked permission to wear saffron head gear. The government and PU board should not allow friction in the college,” he said.

Six Muslim girls, students of the college are asking permission from the school authorities to allow them to wear Hijab during classes. They are protesting for the past one week without attending the classes.

dear friends particularly in educational institutes must welcome the students to be well dressed, if a student wear a burka, than what is the problem for the teaching staff, we have to see that, by wearing burkha there should be any illegal activities by the students. i would like to re iterate once again that, we have to be very careful while commenting some one. at the dooms day we will be offered a small and tight digged space for us and we will be covered by white clothes covered by the whole body and we cannot carry anything along with our dead body. we do not know who lose their life and when is our turn, we have seen thousands of healthy people that we have lost them during the pandemic tenure and further there is again a threat of the omicron and so and so. and heart attacks and failures are occuring day by day and any specialist doctor even cannot his life and future, hence i do request every one to co operate each other and live without any harm to any ones. nothing is in our hand now.

BJP is allowing anti nationals to grow freely by not objecting these goondas from taking law in their hands. These goondas are objecting everying from minorities. Thjey attack places of worships and object them from praying and unfortunately police are supporting them. MLA Raghupati Bhat is here for everyone and not for one particular group. He should not support goondasim by bjp supported terrorist organisation who is trying to change schools / colleges as their akada. However, he is right in suspecting politicisation of this issue by vested interests by fingering sanghi goondas. He should instruct police to be caustious about these goondas and dont let them to take law in their hand.

if you are making rule make it for everyone..all religions.like france..not outside exhibition...even wearing cross is not allowed in france..you can wear inside your shirt or whatever but outside no exhibition....so I call upon the govt..if it has got guts...to stop wearing of bindi, bangles, shawls, lungi and japa mala during Aiyappa season, cross by Chrisitans to school..basically nothing...is this possible in INdia with such a varied culture and utterly conservative society?

real kujuma, kodial Dont involve Christians with your matter. we know what we are and what we do. We dont have wear cross outside the shirt or clothes. Agree that during Shabarimala time, even Hindus should not wear black shawl on top of uniform. When students are inside the school building they have to adhere to school rules whether they are Hindus / Muslims or Christians. Why you want others to change. start changing from your community first. Then others also stop following you.

This issue was never heard of before 2014. All these communal and divisive politics started only after 2014 when BJP came to power. Before 2014 nobody was aware and nobody noticed what the other student is wearing. All were treated equally and respected each ones rights. After 2014 it’s Jungleeraj, no respect, no mannerisms.

The whole idea of uniform in school to bring in uniformity across religion, caste, economic and social status without exception. So school management is right in enforcing the rule. Hijab promotes religious identity and school or college is not the place to promote identity.

There should be a government college for women only. Then they can wear abaya and hijab.and there should be a locker room where they can change and attend classes. I saw in Mangalore there is a women's college where Muslim girls come from home with burkha.and remove while attending classes. Because in their religion when a girl attains maturity they should not show their face to other men except close relatives. Therefore if it is a women's college then problem will not arise. I respect Muslim dress code. When they cover their body nobody dare to rape or bad thinking. Rape takes place when the parts of body not properly closed and this leads to temptation.

One of the worst countries in the WORLD for sexual harassment is Egypt. Women wear hijab. Some time ago a woman complained that when she was walking with hijab on the street, her own brother did the wrong thing! So, do not know where your thoughts are coming from: imagination of experience? The Muslim women of DK did not wear hijab in the past. It only started after the Gulf oil boom.

Dear Bharath Bangalore, BJP was saffron until they got to power. They are as green as western ghats and will give Congressis run for their money when it comes to appeasement. This is in the DNA (divide and rule) of all politicians and they inherited it from the Goras. No, political affiliation does not matter. Votes do.

I think the management was right. Keep your religion at home. When you step out from your house be a civilized citizen of this country. The god should be in your heart, not what do you eat and wear. In 21 century we are running behind cows and hijab.
