19th Federation Cup Tennis Ball Cricket Tourney - Goa Emerges Runners-up

Panaji, Dec 3:  Goa men and women’s team emerged runners-up in the 19 Federation Cup Tennis Ball Cricket Championship held at YMCA Stadium, Chennai from November 29 to December 1.


In rain-affected final, Goa women’s team lost against Chhattisgarh. Chhatisgarh, put to bat first, scored 53 runs in 8 overs. Manisha Mangueshkar took three wickets, Dhanashree and Manjusha took one wicket each. In reply, Goa could score 38 runs in their eight overs. Sharmila and Manisha scored 8 runs each.
 
Earlier Goa had defeated Rajasthan women’s team in the semi-finals. Rajasthan managed the third place in the tournament.
 Goa men's team also lost against Chhattisgarh in the final. Electing to bat first, Goa scored 42 runs in its allotted 8 overs. Haresh Parsekar and Hemant Khot scored 12 runs each. In reply Chhattisgarh scored the required runs in 7.1 overs. Earlier Goa had defeated Rajasthan to secure the final berth.
 
The winners were awarded with trophies, medals and mementos.
