Kundapur: Kota police create ruckus at Koraga community’s Mehendi programme

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (MS)

Kundapur, Dec 28: Kota police reportedly created ruckus in the house of a person belonging to Koraga community where Mehendi function was in progress on Monday December 27 night. It has been alleged that they wielded lathis on the people present in the programme.

The police took this extreme step as DJ music was being played at the Mehendi function at Koraga colony which falls under Kotathattu gram panchayat.

The inmates of the house have alleged that the police wielded lathi even on the bridegroom. In addition, they also alleged that the police took them to police station and made them remove their clothes and beat them.

Koraga community leaders visited the spot. The police said that they had to take action as the DJ music was being played loudly.

Solidarity Youth Movement Udupi district president Yaseen Kodibengre, Dalit leader Sundar Master and other leaders have condemned the issue and have demanded for the suspension of the police constable.

I think that they are poor, but still they could have invited some minister or MLAs to the function for their safty. This may be a lesson for others who arrange party at night.

Exploitation, oppression, discrimination and violence. SC and ST are being deprived of their rights and our BJP leaders and police who are recruited from Hindutva cadres, are part of such inhuman acts. These Koragas are at the bottom of the caste hierarchy, and suffer not just from poverty but also discrimination, violence and exclusion from economic and social life. They are untouchables, but exception is there while raping. On an average, four Dalit women are raped every day in India. In the above incident, they are beaten mercilessly as the photo shows, and if the persons were from upper caste, Police dare not do it. These Koragas are equal only during voting. People kiss their dogs, but never touch the servant's child, because the pretty and innocent child is dirty by birth.

Santhan M .Kinnigoli, why should Police beet anyone whatever the crime is?Why dont they bring one law not to beat anyone or harm .?Here police are not allowed to beat anyone or touch unnecessarily ,even a murderer.Everyone is individuell and has his pride ,Everyone should be treated equal. It was brutal to beat someone.Do they let anyone beat them ?Even without police uniform ?Then why others?During a Mehendi proramm in a marraige house police have nothing to do .when music loud is let them call house owner and tell them to make it less ..was someone behind this drama?some neighbour who is a upper caste?Suspend the police from their job.Go home man .you are not fit to serve in govt job.

DJ's behave like they have come from a different planet. They do whatever they want and dont care for the hosts of the function or the neighbors. People who hire DJ's because they are cheap should first have control over them. Or else you will end up with incidents like this.
