Udupi: NCC unit of Milagres, Smt Rukmani Shedthi College organize cleanliness drive

Udupi, Dec 23: NCC unit of Milagres College combining with Smt Rukmani Shedthi College, Barkur organised Punit Sagar Abhiyaan (beach cleaning drive, awareness drive ) under the able guidance of 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC Udupi at Delta Beach on Monday, December 21, 2021. 80 cadets from both the college (Milagres College Kallianpur-60 cadets and Smt Rukmani College, Barkur-20 cadets) enthusiastically participated in thebeach clean-up drive.

Participants were provided with cleaning material such as hand gloves and gunny bags. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves throughout the cleanup activity. The cadets were split into a team of 10 members each, for picking up the litter. Each team was provided with a sack for collecting the waste.

During three hours of cleaning operation, around 25 bags filled with wastes and derbies collected from the beach. There was waste of all kinds on the beach, wrapper, shoes, remains of food stuffs, papers, food packages, and dangerous objects such as broken bottles, sharp metallic objects. The collected waste was placed at two points, where sorting of the waste based on the type of the litter was done after the clean-up.

Food was sponsored by Milagres College Kallianpur for all the cadets on the occasion of beach cleaning drive.
